Good Lord Bird tells the story of the infamous abolitionist John Brown through the point of view of Onion, a fictional enslaved boy taken in by Brown and his rag tag group of followers. Bleeding Kansas chaos ensues en route to the legendary failed raid at Harper’s Ferry.
