419B. The 90% Clean Energy Solution - Pragmatic Climate Reset

In Michael Liebreich's Pragmatic Climate Reset, he calls for an end to polarizing all-or-nothing climate action. He says we can get to 90% clean energy by dropping the absolute goals of getting to 100% renewable energy and banning fossil fuels.Getting to 90% can be done efficiently, cost-effectively by focusing on the cheapest energy solutions and using some natural gas.And besides, he says, by the time we get to 90% clean energy, we will know what to do about the last 10% that appears cost-prohibitive today. This is part 2 in our series on Michael Liebreich's Pragmatic Climate Reset. 419A. Is Energy Transition Dead? Pragmatic Climate Reset with Michael Liebreich

The focus of the world has shifted dramatically since the election of President Donald Trump and in the wake of trade wars and economic woes that seem to dominate the news cycles. This has also led to climate change taking a back seat, and some critics are suggesting the energy transition is dead.Whoa, not so fast, says Michael Liebreich, investor, energy expert, and founder of Bloomberg New Energy Finance.Rumours of the death of the energy transition are greatly exaggerated, he says, and he’s got a plan to revitalize the energy transition and climate action. He says what’s needed is a major pragmatic climate reset. In part one of our Green Energy Futures CKUA series on the Pragmatic Reset, Liebreich makes the case for pragmatism, an end to absolutism, and a new, more inclusive energy transition.   🟢 GreenEnergyFutures.ca CKUA.com Podcast ❤️ Subscribe Today - We have more than400 episodes!   ✅ BLOG - GreenEnergyFutures.ca ✅ PODCAST -https://open.spotify.com/show/1IFLWH0wmCBwpEF7BQv7FA?si=7b384d7e63c0493c ✅ SUPPORT OUR WORK - Buy Me a Coffee- https://buymeacoffee.com/greenfutures Green Energy Futures is a passionproject. 419. Full Interview - What the world needs now is a Pragmatic Climate Reset says Michael Liebreich

What the world needs now is a Pragmatic Climate Reset. So says Michael Liebreich, investor, energy transition expert and the founder of Bloomberg New Energy Finance.Driven by the potential catastrophic impacts posed by climate change people and the nations of the world have pushed to eliminate fossil fuels, move to 100% renewable energy and to get to net-zero by 2050.These are laudable goals, but not all of them are plausible to achieve says Michael Liebreich in our wide ranging interview on his push for a major reset in how we tackle climate change. He's NOT saying we abandon action on climate change, but that we change the narrative from one that is deeply polarizing to one that is inclusive, and recognizes the concerns of people for not only climate impacts but also their livlihoods, and wellbeing. On the contrary Liebreich is saying we can take faster action, by being much more strategic in the actions we take and to stop our focus on something he calls absolutism - goals that that are founded in the real threat of climate change instead of their practicality.FULL INTERVIEW🟢 GreenEnergyFutures.ca CKUA.com Podcast❤️ Subscribe Today - We have more than 400 episodes!✅ BLOG - GreenEnergyFutures.ca✅ PODCAST - https://open.spotify.com/show/1IFLWH0wmCBwpEF7BQv7FA?si=7b384d7e63c0493c✅ SUPPORT OUR WORK - Buy Me a Coffee - https://buymeacoffee.com/greenfuturesGreen Energy Futures is a passion project. 417. Nova Scotia says offshore wind could provide 27% of Canada’s electricity

VIDEO - Nova Scotia is bullish on offshore wind power. They just offered leases for the development of 5 gigawatts of offshore wind capacity. That's twice the annual electricity consumption in Nova Scotia. And they have already identified suitable areas for up to 60 gigawatts of offshore wind development. That's enough to provide 27% of Canada's electricity. Surprisingly, these will be the first offshore wind projects in Canada, even though the technology is widely used in China, the UK, the US, and other countries. We talk to Elisa Obermann, executive director of Marine Renewables Canada, who says Premier Tim Houston is a big advocate for the development, which he describes as nation-building. 🟢 GreenEnergyFutures.ca CKUA.com VIDEO Podcast ❤️ Subscribe Today - We have more than 400 episodes! ✅ BLOG - GreenEnergyFutures.ca ✅ PODCAST - https://open.spotify.com/show/1IFLWH0wmCBwpEF7BQv7FA?si=7b384d7e63c0493c ✅ SUPPORT OUR WORK - Buy Me a Coffee - https://buymeacoffee.com/greenfutures Green Energy Futures is a passion project.
