Little Happier: A Character from “K-Pop Confidential” and My Second-Grade Daughter Remind Me: We Want to Accept Ourselves, and Expect More From Ourselves

In Stephan Lee’s terrific young-adult novel K-Pop Confidential, the character Candace’s performance illustrates the same lesson that I saw in my daughter Eleanor’s second-grade show on the monkey bars: Sometimes we should expect more from ourselves, and sometimes we should accept ourselves—our own gifts, our own limitations, and our own way to achieve an aim.

Ep. 319: Ask Yourself, “Do I Use It, Need It, Love It?”, Using the Return to Work as a “Clean Slate” for Habits, and Rebels Give Advice about the Rebel Who Won’t Read Emails

For those in the mood for spring cleaning, we suggest clearing clutter by asking “Do I use it, need it, love it?” We talk about April Fool’s Day pranks, ideas for using the return to the workplace as a “clean slate” for starting healthy habits, and hear from Rebels about how to deal with a Rebel teacher who won’t read school emails.

Little Happier: Why Did I Insist on Taking My Little Girl to Pre-school in the Freezing Cold and Snow?

Understanding my Four Tendencies personality framework, and my own Tendency as an Upholder, revealed to me why I’d behaved inexplicably years ago, when I took my daughter to school in a snowstorm.

Life Changer

This was the first podcast I ever listened to and I am still here years later! Bit by bit, every week, it is definitely making my life happier. I am getting to know myself better through every discussion and setting up my life to work best for me. I’m an Obliger, I’m a Finisher, I’m a Lark, I’m an Abstainer! Thank you Gretchen and Elizabeth for your introspective conversations. I appreciate the different points of view you each bring to the table. Rarely does a day go by that I don’t mention this podcast on my blog or to a friend! It’s changed my life in so many little ways - Thank you!

A ray of sunshine every week

It just brings me so much joy. It makes you live both more lightly and more deeply. It makes you want to know yourself better and live more intentionally. It is non-judgmental and flexible and adaptable and accessible for everyday life and everyday people. Also, I love her laugh.

Happy 6th year anniversary and thank you!

My favourite classic mantra that I’ve learned from you is “The days are long but the years are short”.. it speaks to me and my motherhood journey. And recently, I loved hearing about how happy it makes you feel when you do something for somebody else, like your husband.
I enjoy listening to your voices on your podcast. And I go back to your books for inspiration as well.
Thank you for amazing tips, talks, interview, hacks, and everything in between! I wish you many more years of success and happy happy days, everyday!
