Customer Reviews
pearls of wisdom, floating in beer
Since I no longer have a regular gaming group, I went looking on the 'net for people worth spending my time with and finally found Happy Jacks. Stu and the crew have a plethora of insightful things to say re: a variety of RPGs even when they disagree with each other and/or my own stance. Gaming horror stories, tales of success, listener questions, rules debates, GM technique commentary, and session summaries abound. Their guest hosts vigorously fend off any sense of the mundane while the regulars maintain a comfortable and familiar atmosphere. The odd ribald joke, belch, or Monty Python quote does not detract from the overall feel, and the audio quality is uniformly excellent.
Oh the profanity!
First of the gaming podcasts I started listening to years ago. I credit them for getting me back into the hobby and for introducing Savage Worlds to me. Yes, there's a lot of burping, drinking, swearing and such, but there's also a wealth of RPG gaming experience and content. Not a podcast for everyone, but I for one enjoy the humour, banter, and oh yeah, the nuggets of gaming goodness too.
It's like Cheers but they talk tabletop RPG
Stu, Stork, and the rest of the gang of loveable miscreants put on a casual show where they read, respond, and riff off of letters about tabletop RPG experiences from listeners. And the hosts have a good time. Listen to the backlog. These folks GM and play a lot so there is plenty of gaming wisdom between the burps. This is my go-to RPG podcast.
