Hard Decisions, Easy Life with Jodi Toews The Coach's Playground

    • Entrepreneurship

What makes a fulfilling life? How do you live a life rooted in purpose and passion for helping others?
Never knowing what you want and just jumping at whatever comes by would never get you around to a life you truly want.
When we make hard decisions, that's when our being is tested and we get to look at the values that truly matter to us. It may be hard, but that will make sense to you and the people you want to serve.
Jodi Toews shifted from a career in athletic therapy to graphic design as a course correction back to her original passion and fine arts training. Her graphic design business allows her to continue to serve the outdoor lifestyle, health, and wellness communities while setting her up to live a remote lifestyle. The mountains of the west have been calling for years, and she has designed her life to answer that call.
Her background in kinesiology and patient care is hugely beneficial when helping businesses and professionals clearly communicate their knowledge and expertise. Many of her clients have never worked with a designer before and she is here to make that smooth and easy.
She believes that when we live in alignment with our highest values we make the world better. She is committed to supporting professionals in the outdoor, health, and sport science communities run thriving businesses doing what they love.
In this episode, Jodi talks about starting fine arts, shifting to athletic therapy, and going back to her creative background. She shares lessons on pursuing a collective goal at one of the gyms she worked for and how it taught her to not just rely on employment but to make a plan for herself, progress, and move up.
The life she now lives is brought about by knowing what she wants and following her purpose in life. She points out how to act on opportunities to live the life you truly want even amidst fear. To her, it's about constantly pushing boundaries, finding value in it, and how it moves over to other aspects of your life.
You have to believe that when you say what you want and put it out there, the world positively reacts to it, and that's what we can learn from Jodi's experience.
Let's hear how she finds joy in just being in the moment, living the life she's always wanted for herself, and how she finds fulfillment in it.
She also looks back to a time when things didn't happen the way she wanted them and how she understood what it meant now. Something we can all get insight from.
She used to take the initiative of suggesting remote work to her boss at a time it wasn't a trend yet. How she made her boss say yes to it is one big idea for us to become action takers.
She is a big believer in mentorship and hiring coaches. How it benefitted her immensely personally and professionally is one thing she shares, and we can do the same for ourselves.
Do you want to know about branding and how this helps you market yourself? Jodi gives her thoughts on this topic and how you can make known to the world what you do uniquely. Also, listen to her talk about brand strategy and how it can help you and your business gain traction.
Learn a thing or two and many more on why good professional health coaches are not able to do business well despite having the best skills they have; something we can also take a look at and learn from.
It's good to hear Jodi's thoughts on what lies on the horizon for professional health coaches and how the current shift in the world will affect the business's online and in-person aspects.
"If you know what you want, and you know what your values are, it leads to harder decisions, because you're always making decisions based on those values. And those aren't comfortable decisions. Whereas if you are floating along, and you're just doing what's easiest, it ends up leading to this life that's hard in a totally different way and in an unfulfilling way." - Jodi Toews
