Common Misconceptions About Lifting and Pelvic Floor

Hello HIG Listeners! I have a new podcast episode for you this morning with Pelvic Floor Doula Steph Bouwman all around fitness and pelvic health as there are so many misconceptions about lifting weights during pregnancy and postpartum.  You’ve just had your baby, and chances are one of the first things on your mind is “when can I start exercising again?” The most common piece of advice is to wait until your 6-week postpartum appointment, where your doctor or midwife will discharge you and officially give you the all clear. But what happens when you don’t feel ready? Or you're not sleeping? Or things still feel weird down there? What questions can you ask in order to have a meaningful discussion regarding your postpartum health? Am I showing signs of pelvic organ prolapse or diastasis recti? What happens when we no longer resonate with the person we used to be before? In this episode Steph Bouwman will talk about her story as well as will help guide you back and not feel alone and you will walk away with some advice on how to realign with yourself so you can show up as the strong and amazing being that you are! The biggest advice that we are here to give you is not to be afraid to ask questions, especially if you feel something is off. You know your body best, and the more knowledge you have about your body the stronger and healthier you can be for your baby. Hope that you enjoy this episode!
