    Summary Information about your CellAED®

    Summary Information about your CellAED®

    Key Information about Your CellAED®

Gaining a thorough understanding of how to manage and use your CellAED® is crucial for effective response in emergency situations. This detailed guide offers comprehensive information about your CellAED®, from storage to usage and deactivation.

    Storing Your CellAED® Effectively

For optimal readiness, you should store your CellAED® in a place that is visible and easily accessible. Avoid storing it in areas exposed to direct sunlight or extreme temperatures. Keeping the device between 15 and 35 degrees Celsius is crucial, as temperatures outside this range can significantly shorten the battery life.

    Preparing for Emergency Use

Your CellAED® should remain sealed in its protective packaging until needed for a sudden cardiac arrest event. When someone experiences sudden cardiac arrest, they will be unconscious, unresponsive, and either not breathing or not breathing normally.

    Responding to Cardiac Arrest

If you suspect cardiac arrest, immediately call for emergency medical services, commence CPR, and retrieve your CellAED®. Before activating your CellAED®, ensure that you have exposed and prepared the patient’s chest.

    Activating Your CellAED®

To activate your CellAED®, follow these steps:

    * Remove the CellAED® from its packaging by pulling the tab and peeling off the tape seal.

    * Tear open the protective bag as indicated and remove the CellAED®.

    * Keep the CPR pictures inside the case visible for guidance.

    * Activate and apply your CellAED® using the Snap, Peel, Stick method.

    Using Your CellAED® on Infants

For infants, position the pad with the blue button on the front of the chest and the other pad between the shoulder blades. Follow the prompts to press the “Infant” button and confirm. During CPR on infants, remove the front gel pad and perform chest compressions with two fingers in the centre of the chest.

    Completing the Therapy Cycle

Adhere to the audio instructions for heart rhythm analysis and possible shock delivery. Continue the therapy cycle with chest compressions and rescue breaths until emergency services arrive or it becomes unsafe to continue. Remember, if your CellAED® or another AED does not revive a patient, continue CPR as long as it’s safe until help arrives.

    Deactivating Your CellAED®

After using your CellAED®, remove and stick the gel pads together for at least five seconds. This action deactivates your CellAED® and halts the voice instructions, marking the end of its use in the emergency.

Conclusion: Being Prepared with Your CellAED®

By following this information about your CellAED®, you ensure that you’re prepared for emergencies. Proper storage, prompt response during cardiac arrest, and correct deactivation are key to effective use of your CellAED®.

Storing and Caring for your CellAED®

Storing and Caring for your CellAED®

Storing and Caring for Your CellAED®: Essential Tips

Storing and caring for your CellAED®  correctly is crucial to ensure its effectiveness in an emergency. This detailed guide will equip you with the necessary knowledge to keep your CellAED® in optimal condition, ready for use when needed.

Choosing the Right Storage Location for Your CellAED®

The best place for storing and caring for your CellAED® varies depending on individual needs. However, it’s important to store it where it’s easily visible and accessible. We recommend locations such as near the front door or in central areas like your kitchen, alongside other emergency tools. If you are heading to a remote location, taking your CellAED® with you is advisable, as emergency services might face delays in reaching such areas.

Keeping Your CellAED® in Its Protective Case

For optimal storing and caring for your CellAED®, always keep it inside its protective case until it’s needed for a cardiac arrest emergency. This practice ensures that the device remains safe and ready to use.

Maintaining the Ideal Temperature for Your CellAED®

When storing and caring for your CellAED®, be mindful of the temperature. Your CellAED® operates best between 0-35 degrees Celsius (0-95°F), but ideally, it should be stored at temperatures ranging from 15 to 35 degrees Celsius (59-95°F) to prolong its life.

Monthly Checks: A Key Aspect of Caring for Your CellAED®

Regular maintenance is vital. Monthly checks are recommended to ensure that the tamper-evident seal is intact, and the device shows no signs of damage. Using the provided checklist can aid in this process.

Ensuring Your CellAED® Is Ready for Use

Part of storing and caring for your CellAED® involves regularly checking its expiry date and the LED indicator. A green flashing LED every 30 seconds indicates that the CellAED® is operational. An amber light signals a low battery, while no LED flashing indicates that the battery has expired and the device needs replacing.

    Understanding LED Indicators During Operation

During an emergency, the LED will turn red when a shock is advised, reminding you not to touch the patient. This is an important feature when storing and caring for your CellAED®.

    Refer to Your User Manual

Your user manual is a vital resource for storing and caring for your CellAED®. It contains all the information you need for its maintenance and use.

Conclusion: Keep Your CellAED® Ready and Effective

By adhering to these guidelines, you ensure that your device is always prepared for emergency situations. Regular maintenance and proper storage are key to maintaining the readiness and efficacy of your CellAED®.

    Shutting Down Your CellAED®

Understanding the Process for Shutting Down Your CellAED®

In emergency situations,  shutting down your CellAED® is as crucial as operating it. This guide explains the detailed process of shutting down your CellAED® to ensure it’s correctly deactivated after use.

When to Shut Down Your CellAED®

It’s vital to know that your CellAED® must be removed before using any other defibrillator. When emergency services arrive, promptly follow their instructions. They will take over the emergency care, removing the CellAED® and potentially applying their defibrillator.

    Steps to Remove the CellAED®

Before shutting down your CellAED®, you’ll need to carefully remove it from the patient. Follow these steps for a smooth transition:

    * Gently detach the electrode pads from the patient.

    * Ensure you cease all interaction with the device as the emergency team takes over.

    Initiating the Shutdown Process

Shutting down your CellAED® is a straightforward process, yet requires attention to detail:

    * To start the shutdown, press the two gel pads together firmly for a minimum of five seconds.

    * Be aware that depending on the treatment cycle phase, the voice instructions might continue briefly.

    Completing the Shutdown

Upon successful shutdown, you’ll hear the final voice instruction:

    CellAED® sound: “Device deactivated”

At this point, you will have fully deactivated your CellAED®, and it will no longer function as a defibrillator.

Conclusion: Ensuring Proper Shutdown of Your CellAED®

By carefully following these outlined steps, you confidently guarantee the correct and efficient execution of your CellAED®’s shutdown process. Adhering to this procedure is not just a matter of protocol; it’s also a crucial aspect of the device’s post-use management. Ensuring the proper deactivation of your CellAED® after its vital function in a medical emergency is instrumental. This careful deactivation maintains the device’s integrity for future inspections or reviews and ensures compliance with safety standards post-use.

How to use your CellAED® on an Adult

How to use your CellAED® on an Adult

Mastering the Use of CellAED® on Adults

If you have experience with Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs), you’ll find some differences when using your CellAED®. This guide highlights these variations and provides step-by-step instructions on effectively using your CellAED® on an adult.

    Understanding CellAED® Differences

Firstly, it’s important to note that the CellAED® is designed for single-patient use and can deliver multiple shocks, but it requires replacing after use on one person. Secondly, it’s a fully automatic defibrillator, which means it analyses the heart rhythm and automatically delivers a shock if necessary. Thirdly, the pad placement for CellAED® differs slightly from traditional AEDs. Instead of placing the lateral pad under the armpit, it should be placed in line with and below the left nipple.

Steps for Using Your CellAED® on an Adult

There are several critical steps for using your CellAED® on an adult:

    * Call emergency services immediately upon recognising an unresponsive person.

    * Start CPR and, if possible, have someone else prepare the CellAED®.

    * Remove your CellAED® from its case by pulling the marked tab and peeling off the red tape.

    * Activate your CellAED® by following the Snap Peel Stick™ method.

    Pad Application and Analysis

After snapping the device in half, separate the pads to extend the cable and completely peel away the protective liner. Apply one pad to the top right-hand side of the chest and the other to the bottom left-hand side, ensuring they stick firmly to the skin.

    Special Considerations

    When applying the CellAED®:

    * Be mindful of pacemakers, which should not impede pad placement.

    * In the case of children over 10 kilos, follow adult pad placement unless it impedes chest compressions.

    Responding to CellAED® Instructions

Listen and follow the voice instructions from your CellAED®. If using on an adult, ignore the prompts for infant mode and wait for the device to recognise it’s in adult mode.

    Administering CPR and Shock Delivery

When instructed to start CPR, use the heel of your hands for compressions in time with the metronome beeps. The CellAED® will guide you through the therapy cycle, advising on when to deliver shocks and when to perform CPR.

    Continuing Care Until Help Arrives

Continue to follow the voice instructions, providing CPR and rescue breaths until emergency services arrive. If the patient shows signs of recovery, place them in the recovery position, keeping the CellAED® attached until professional help takes over.

Conclusion: Preparing for Effective Adult Resuscitation

By following these guidelines and using your CellAED® correctly on an adult, you increase the chances of a positive outcome in emergency situations. Regular practice and familiarity with your device are key to being prepared when it matters most.
