In the SEASON FINALE, the guys provide their insight on a very active Day 1 of NHL Free Agency. Fresh off of ‘Free Agent Frenzy’ on TSN, Dregs talks the annual July 1st theatrics on the panel, and growing to love the comedic side of the show. Ray gives a shout-out to TSN legend Gino Reda, and spoke on enjoying the festivities from the comfort of his couch!

In Headlines, the guys delve into a busy Day 1 of NHL Free Agency. Brad Treliving’s first free agent signings as Maple Leafs GM saw the additions of Ryan Reaves, and John Klingberg. Ray shares his view that the Leafs are worse-off now than they were to end the season, and questions how adding a purely offensive defenceman in Klingberg will move the needle. Dregs talks Tyler Bertuzzi and discussions with the Leafs. 

The Sens have their goalie! Ray gives his opinion on Joonas Korpisalo, and a long-term bet on a goalie who’s game has a lot of question marks. When speaking on the Senators, the conversation naturally shifts to Alex DeBrincat; the US-born winger looking for 'Meier-Money' and a move back to his home-country. Plus, a surprising stat that might explain some of the scorer's goal decline this season.

Dregs dishes on Carolina Hurricanes owner Tom Dundon having more than a ‘seat at the table’, and the guys talk bold moves made by the Canes. Can GM Don Waddell land the big ‘fish’ of the off-season, Erik Karlsson?? Plus, eye-popping Islanders signings, Rangers & Bruins’ 1-year deals, & more!

Kris Abbott joins the show after celebrating another trip around the sun. Kris took some ribbing as the guys had some fun with just how old he turned! The summer sports slowdown means Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest gets the spotlight; Joey Chestnut’s dominance, analyzing (or over-analyzing) the rules of the contest, and how the pod would fare if they competed. 

In Ask Ray & Dregs Anything, Ray is asked which active-player he would pick as a linemate, and Dregs tips his hat to Bob Cole, and fellow ‘insider’ Woj. Ray gets subtly roasted by a listener from Norway who asks which of wife Cammi’s many accomplishments he most would've wanted on his hockey resume.

A BUSY week in the NHL off-season continues as teams wrap their drafts, and turn their focus to free agency. For Ray that means manning the ship at home as wife Cammi Granato puts in the hours as a member of Canucks management. Good thing the Ferraro kids like banana bread!

In Headlines, the guys discuss the lack of trades at the NHL Draft, and the salary cap keeping teams from making moves. Flyers defender Travis Sanheim’s no-trade-clause kicks in July 1st, and after Torey Krug invoked his own NTC, Philly is likely on the hook for the player’s mammoth payday. Ray sounds-off on managers ‘handing out’ NTC’s and the problem it saddles teams with, while acknowledging the players’ right to use their NTC's.

The blockbuster trade that sent star centre Pierre-Luc Dubois from Winnipeg to the LA Kings is examined. SIZE is at a premium in the Western Conference as Ray lauds the juggernauts of the Pacific Division. 

An Original-6 trade saw the Boston Bruins striking a deal with the Chicago Blackhawks. The guys discuss Taylor Hall’s potential production alongside 1st overall pick Connor Bedard, and assess the deal from a Bruins perspective. Can the record-setting team make off-season moves that will translate to playoff success?? 

William Nylander’s contract negotiations continue with the Toronto Maple Leafs as the supremely talented winger aims to cash-in. 10+ million? 8 years? No-trade-clause? The guys discuss potential factors to consider between new Leafs GM Treliving and the Nylander camp. Plus, Ray gives his opinion on what the Leafs should do. 

Kris Abbott is away on Betano.ca duties, just as the NFL odds for next season are released... Perhaps he is preparing for Season 5 after a less-than-stellar showing in the pod’s NFL Picks competition?? Dregs’ phone is on high-alert as the NHL Insider monitors trade-action ahead of the draft. While Dregs is in Nashville for the NHL Draft, Ray is home on the west coast trying his hand at baking; as the guys ‘cook’ up another episode!

In Headlines, the guys discuss the ALMOST-unanimous vote for Connor McDavid winning another Hart Trophy as league MVP, discuss the need for change with making the NHL trophies more current, and Jack Adams Trophy winner Jim Montgomery’s powerful speech on the obstacles the Bruins head coach has overcome.

Norris Trophy winner Erik Karlsson was honoured for his incredible resurgence this season, however his future with the San Jose Sharks remains uncertain. Noah Hanifin and Pierre-Luc Dubois have made their intentions clear, but Ray discusses why waiting for the right return could prolong the inevitable well into the season. 

Connor Hellebuyck being linked to the New Jersey Devils has the rumour-mill churning, as the guys discuss the potential fit for the Devils. With one year remaining on his contract and the prospect of ‘Vasilevskiy money’ being thrown around, Ray speaks on his view that spending significant cap dollars on a goalie is not a winning philosophy. 

The guys talk Oliver Ekman-Larsson’s MASSIVE buyout by the Vancouver Canucks, Ray finding out like everyone else despite his wife’s role with the team, and if ‘OEL’ could be a good defensive depth add for a new team.

Briere spoke on the transition from his playing career to an NHL front-office, the overwhelming feeling of starting his tenure as GM, and the advantage of having worked his way up within the Flyers organization.
