Episode 30 - "Dear Khloe: Love Letters to My Little Sister" - Self Love & Natural Hair with St. Clair

Episode 30 - "Dear Khloe: Love Letters to My Little Sister" - Self Love & Natural Hair with St. Clair

In this episode I am joined by the lovely St. Clair Detrick-Jules, the author of "Dear Khloe: Love Letters to My Little Sister". She created this book out of inspiration to teach her little sister how to love her natural hair, regardless of what society says.

*This episode was recorded remotely and there were some glitches/overlapping in the audio at times. I tried my best to edit it but I apologize for any inconvenience to your listening experience.

    In this episode we discuss:

    anti-blackness,
    Solange
the connection of natural hair to political movements
    the symbolism of the afro
the link of hair to identity
The Crown Act and the laws against natural hair in the U.S.A.

This book will be available online in May 2020. St. Clair will be hosting events in various cities following the release (you know, once we're able to socialize again!)

In this episode I am joined by investment advisor and the Think Space Podcast host, Joss Biggins. Episode 28 - Cultivate the Witness (Wayne Dyer)

Episode 28 - Cultivate the Witness (Wayne Dyer)

In this solo episode I discuss the book I've been reading recently; "Your Sacred Self" by Wayne W. Dyer. The chapter that this episode is based on is "Cultivate the Witness" (starting at page 121) which is a powerful method that will aid in you becoming more in control of your emotions and your thoughts. I quote heavily from this book and highly recommend reading the full book.

    Thanks for listening!

In this episode I am joined by my good friend Robyn Ross. I've known her for a few years but it feels like a lifetime (in the best way). She's like a second mother with endless wisdom, humour and stories. Naturally when we get together we talk...a LOT. Always about meaningful topics, I promise... basically this episode is a result of that!

We discuss a variety of topics:

    - The best concerts she's ever been to and who she'd like to see now

    - Her biggest accomplishment in life

    - Motherhood and breaking the cycle of toxic parenting

    - NYC vs LA vs Vancouver

    - Her confidence in her 20s vs now

    - Being a go-getter in Vancouver / how to stay motivated

    - Robyn's acting and makeup artistry careers

    - The love of her life and love letters

    - Rebellious streaks and 'disappointing' your parents

    - Me being late to the dating game and Robyn's view on why that isn't necessarily a bad thing

    - The benefits of having friends of different generations

    - Learning lessons from shitty situations

    - How Robyn defines success

    - Instagram "Narcissist" culture and the Khardasians

The IG accounts Robyn recommended (that she mentioned in the episode) were:

    @borndifferent @shakemybeauty

    And The Good News Network

Episode 25 - Lachlan: Reality TV Star, TV & Film Costumer & Many More

In this episode I am joined by my friend Lachlan. He’s one of my favourite people that I’ve met in the movie industry due to his vibrant personality and sense of humour.

Over the years he’s been making moves in the film industry. He started with background work, then became a production assistant, and now works in the costume department. He talks about these experiences, including being Kelly Rowland’s costumer (!!!).

We also discuss his reality show experience; being a contestant on “The Whole Package”. Lachlan shares what he learned from his first heartbreak and we talk about when it’s time to take a step back from friendships.

Episode 24 - Toxic Masculinity with Kyle Cornell

Episode 24 - Toxic Masculinity with Kyle Cornell

In this episode I am joined by Kyle Cornell, an aspiring actor, writer and motorcycle enthusiast. We start off the episode with two warm up questions: What would you do if you were invisible for the day? Do you think parenting classes should be mandatory?

We then move on to the main topic of this episode: toxic masculinity. Throughout the episode we discuss what toxic masculinity is and how it has effected Kyle growing up and now. We talk about the media and the effect it has on society. Kyle explains how acting helped him become more in tune with his emotions. We also share our thoughts on how we can help to eliminate toxic masculinity. Other things we discuss sporadically throughout the episode include: the movie “It 2”, “The End of the Fucking World”, Robin Williams, journaling techniques, breathing techniques, the importance of internal work…. we cover a lot of subtopics, ok??

If you’d like to check out the toxic masculinity related books/videos Kyle mentioned:
