    Lucky Yates

    Lucky Yates

Live from Dad's Garage in Atlanta, Georgia! Kevin invites his fake son "Blevin" to announce the podcast so they can finally spend some quality time together. Kevin loves Blevin. But if there's one thing he loves more than Blevin, it's Atlanta. In fact, he loves Atlanta so much that he also invites his fake girlfriend onstage to sing a song about it! Later, Kevin performs a brand new sketch about a CEO who wants you to shred everything...but it's not because there's something wrong...it's just that...he wants you to shred everything. And then, he sits down with Archer's Lucky Yates for an interview that inadvertently becomes a debate about whether The Goonies is a good movie or not.

Todd Barry, Judah Friedlander, and Natalie Prass

At long last, your favorite physical comedian, Kevin McDonald, has returned to his audio podcast! And he’s brought Judah Friedlander, Todd Barry, and Musical Guest Natalie Prass with him. But first, Kevin gives listeners a sneak peak at his joke-writing process (5:40), sings a comedy about writing a comedy song because he's out of ideas (8:15), and performs a brand new sketch about a miserable man and the death of his wife from a sustained, minor, annoying pain (11:15). And for the main course! Kevin sits down with Judah & Todd to talk about their Netflix specials, bombing onstage and on TV, the origin of Judah’s style and onstage persona, and whether Todd was meant to be a phone prank comic (22:03). And after, musical guest Natalie Prass performs a three-song mini-concert (1:03:30)! Special Thanks to sketch performers Hallie Haas & Maggie Widdoes! Recorded live at Union Hall in Brooklyn, NY for the Brooklyn Podcast Festival!

    "Rock Opera" (w/ Ben Gibbard)

    "Rock Opera" (w/ Ben Gibbard)

Forever Dog Presents: Kevin McDonald’s Rock Opera! The year is 1991. Kevin is living in Toronto working on a small little HBO show called Kids In The Hall. He’s also in a toxic relationship with a woman named Cheater, who regularly cheats on him. But Kevin is aware of this devastating truth and does what any logical person would do in this situation: he asks Cheater to marry him (9:01). Dave Foley, future star of A Bugs Life (played by Death Cab For Cutie’s Ben Gibbard), pleads with Kevin to not marry Cheater (13:00). Meanwhile, a Texas producer hired by Lorne Michaels books Kevin & Dave on the Joan Rivers Show (15:30), whisking him away to the Big Apple just before Cheater says they shouldn’t get married (16:55). Kevin is despondent, but Dave drags him out of bed for a raucous night on the town (20:47) — a night that involves copious amounts of alcohol, an AIDS benefit, more cheating, and an ambiguous moral (22:30). After the opera, Kevin interviews Ben Gibbard (41:11) and invites him to play a two-song acoustic set to close the night: Teardrop Windows (57:00) and Such Great Heights (59:48). Crank the volume, slip into your most expensive outfit, and tap along to the pulsing rhythm of Kevin McDonald’s Rock Opera, which in this short time, has already been lauded as “the best podcast rock opera of the week." CAST Kevin: Kevin McDonald Dave Foley: Ben Gibbard Announcer/Keyboards: Ron Hippe Cheater: Christine Riippi NY Woman/Joan Rivers: Sarah Hanchar Texas Producer/Men at Benefit: Paul Levy Guitar: Jan Ciganik Recorded live at Unexpected Productions in Seattle Sound Engineering by William Smith, HatchBack LLC

Kevin McDonald is my favourite human. Love this podcast!

I am still so happy that Kevin is doing a podcast. I’ve been listening since the first episode. I love how zany, endearing and authentic he is and the guests are great.

I’ve been a Kids in the Hall fan since I was 17 (25 now) when I first saw a KITH rerun on Comedy Central. It was the episode where Kevin was dressed as a gorilla, took off the mask and said “I’m not really a gorilla, I’m just actor-comedian Kevin McDonald.” I was hooked and from that moment on Kevin was not only my favourite KITH but possibly my favourite person ever! KITH resonated with me in such a way where I felt a sense of true belonging for the first time in my life. The eccentricities, the punk/alternative rock feel, this group of guys who felt like misfits and who wrote and performed sketches that were edgy and that they found funny. Doing the kind of material they wanted to do. The Pixies of comedy as they like to say :)

One of my most memorable moments was when I called into a Winnipeg radio station when I was 18 to talk to Kevin who was a guest host. I was so nervous to talk to him but he was so sweet and you could tell he appreciates all the fans. Thank you, Kevin!

Also saw KITH live in Winnipeg on their 2015 tour. It was incredible and it makes me so happy that you are all still collaborating!

I love that he has had members of KITH on the show/podcast.My other favourites are the episodes with Mike Myers, Aimee Mann, and Ben Gibbard. It made my heart so happy to know that Kevin and Ben know each other. Ben (Death Cab for Cutie) is my favourite artist! I’d love to sit in on a taping, like the one coming up in September 2018 in NY maybe. Oh, and I love the bits with Kevin’s imaginary son Blevin! Hahah

Kevin is so funny as a guest on other podcasts too. It cracks me up when he starts getting excited about what he’s talking about or all of the sudden starts yelling haha.

I hope you get a chance to read this, Kevin! You and all of the Kids in the Hall have had such a positive impact on my life and I’m truly grateful that I discovered KITH and that you all continue to create amazing content. Excited to meet you some day! You should stop by Thunder Bay, ON (home of Paul Shaffer!) one of these days.

Le Poope's Podcast is anything but!

I've been a Kids in the Hall fan since my friend and I found his older sisters "Best of KITH" VHS in his basement. I remember seeing sketches such as Cabbage Head and Citizen Kane and falling in love. They are still one of my favourite comedic influences and I've had the pleasure of seeing them live twice. I've seen Bruce & Mark in the Calgary Comedy Gala, Dave Foley did stand up at the Blackfoot Hotel and the first time I ever attended the Calgary Folk Festival was to see Kevin in the comedy tent...where he proceeded to molest a member of the audience while describing it for those listening on the radio. One of my favourite moments to this day (and I've been a volunteer with the festival every year since then).

I stumbled upon this podcast by accident, I think I was searching to see if any of the kids had stand-up albums on iTunes, and I'm so glad I did. It is hilarious. Kevin has always been my favourite Kid (Stumphand Waiter, The Beard & How to Survive a Grizzly Attack are some of my all-time favourite sketches) and he is consistently hilarious on every episode I've listened to so far. One of my favourite things is getting to know more about Kevin. For example I had no idea he had such a wicked taste in music and hearing him fangirling about Big Star with Suzanne Hoffs was a great moment. As a musician myself I always love when comedians use music in their act and Kevin provides great songs as the opener to almost every episode (my personal favourite so far is the song about Not LA and the KITH history which I got to see performed live last time they were in Calgary...if you're reading this Kevin...please come back...with or without the Kids!).

The interviews are also entertaining and informative, the aforementioned Suzanne Hoff interview was really sweet. I think my favourite interview was with Scott Thompson...his tale of trying to put his sick Cat down is one of the most disturbingly hilarious things I've ever heard.

I think this is the first time I've ever left a review on iTunes. I just wanted to let Kevin know that there are listeners out here and we are loving it! The format of the show is perfect. If I had one criticism it would be that sometimes the announcers can overplay their part and get a little obnoxious. But that's a minor issue in an overall fantastic podcast!
