Best podcast for improving your French

Or my French, anyway. Louis explains a French vignette, almost exclusively in French, every day. The difficulty is just right for me, requiring that I work on my listening skills, always challenging me to figure out at least a couple of words, but pacing and annunciating such that I can follow along. It's really outstanding.

Highly recommended

I've been listening to Daily French Pod for almost a year now. It has supplemented my learning wonderfully, and I recommend it to anyone that could use some practice listening to French and building a stronger vocabulary.

There is a wonderful mixture of beginner and intermediate lessons, and the length of each lesson is perfect. My favourite episodes are the "Real life French" lessons, which involves charming continuing stories---almost like a mini soap opera---which greatly helps my listening skills. The "word of the day" lessons are also tremendously useful in improving vocabulary. Louis has a wonderful, natural way of explaining words through the use of other similar words, without relying on immediate English translations. This technique, I find, really helps me to think in French rather than constantly thinking and translating in English.

While I find the beginner level lessons a little slow sometimes, there is always something to learn from them, and their length makes them worthwhile to listen to, even if they are a little below the level of some of the other lessons. The fact that I become a little impatient at explanations of common words is a sign of how much I've improved.

I never miss an episode, and I can't thank Louis enough for all his amazing work to make this podcast available!

Not John Carver ,

Completely useless.

It is entirely people speaking French, but doesn't teach a single thing. If you truly are a beginner then there is nothing at all beneficial for you here, short of just hearing people speak French an not explain what they're saying.
