A chat about the realities of running a Massage Therapy practice - or any health, wellness or fitness business, really! Currently in mini-series format, where we do 3-5 episodes that deep dive into a topic.

You’ve probably got great hands-on skills and work well with your clients one-on-one. Most of you have that stuff down. But it’s the stuff "beyond the massage table", beyond the treatment room, office or studio, that you might need advice on. How do you run your business and make it a success while still having time for the rest of your life? What’s marketing all about? Should you be using social media? How do you save money for vacations, tax time, and the rest of your life when your income is unpredictable? What do you do when a client is unhappy with your treatment?

That's just some of the topics we discuss! So grab a cup of your favourite beverage and let's dive right in.

    Should Massage Therapists Be Employees?

    Should Massage Therapists Be Employees?

Being self-employed as a massage therapist is the norm, at least in North America.

However, the vast majority of people would be much better off as employees, rather than working for themselves.

Why do I say this? There are a few reasons, which I go over in today's episode.

Massage and Science - What's the Proof?

Massage and Science - What's the Proof?

One of the things massage therapists on the whole are sensitive about are questions about the efficacy of their treatments.

There are a lot of therapist websites out there that have this big list of conditions, diseases, and disorders that they say massage therapy can treat.

So in today’s episode, we’re talking about the science behind massage therapy - or the lack of it. But we’re also talking about why it doesn’t necessarily matter, at least in terms of running your business!

This episode is discussing something that has been in the media a lot recently, and that is the link between the wellness community and conspiracies. There is a lot to think about, so I've provided some food for thought!

You see, it doesn’t have to be all hands-on hours or an hour of your time for a fee exchange. So in this episode, we talk about exactly that! If you want to increase your income without just booking more hands-on time, this episode is for you.

Helpful tips and insights

I've been tuning into this podcast since it started, and haven't heard an episode that I didn't enjoy.

Really helpful for the marketing and business side of things - something I didn't learn a whole lot of in massage therapy school.

Candice speaks to topics that are relevant to massage therapists, because she's been there. She's also really engaging...so listening is fun!
