Salt in the Wounds - Secondary Wounding
Salt in the Wounds - Secondary Wounding
Secondary wounding is the injury that happens after the trauma. It’s the damage that is done by the people who were supposed to care, help, support, and provide for all the needs that the trauma left.
This might be our friends, family, clergy, counsellors, police, doctors, nurses, legal professionals, etc. Anyone who is supposed to be helpful, has the potential to cause more harm, by the way they respond to someone’s trauma.
Today we talk about what Secondary Wounding is, how it happens, the avenues of receiving it, and what to do if you've hurt others in this way.

Too Many Hats? Here's Another One!
Wow! Do we ever wear a lot of hats each day!
As we go about our lives, we change our hats frequently - to be who we need to be, and do what we need to do. It can be exhausting and sometimes, a bit confusing.
And as absurd as it is in all that, Tina, today proposes we add a new hat to our collection! What???
Listen in as Tina introduces the idea of a new term, for a new hat. She talks about this as being a combination of a couple roles, with the purpose of being who is needed, and doing what needs to be done... all for those we love and care for, no matter the relationship.
Just when you thought you had too many hats to wear... here comes Tina with another one!

Have a Word with Yourself
Have a Word with Yourself
Anyone with an inner dialogue, talks to themselves. Many of us argue with ourselves too. Crazy? Nah. It's normal. It's just conflicting thoughts and feelings happening at the same time. How does this happen? Well, we all have different parts and pieces of ourselves - and they all have different opinions.
Join Tina today as she talks about having a team meeting - with herself - and all the parts of who she is.
How do you facilitate such a thing as a team meeting with yourself? How do you give them all a voice (especially when you don't like what some have to say)? How do you keep order in a meeting like that? What are the rules for a safe and constructive outcome? We'll discuss this all and more as we learn how to Have a Word with Yourself

Live Above Your Circumstances
It's another Soul Soothing Sunday with Pastor Bob
Join in as Bob focusses on Acts 27:25, where Paul gets caught in a terrible storm for 14 days while on a ship heading to Rome... But an angel appears to him the night before the shipwreck to say he is going to make it to Rome
"So, keep up your courage, men, for I have faith in God that it will happen just as He told me"
Paul's courage came from a word from God and Paul realized and now teaches us that You can live above your circumstances even when you're stuck in the middle of them.
Question: So why didn't God save Paul from the storm like Jesus saved His disciples in Mark 4?Answer: Sometimes the reason goes beyond what God wants to do FOR us - to what God wants to do IN usAs uncomfortable as it may be, the truth is this: Whether removing a storm or not removing the storm, GOD'S GOT US EITHER WAY!
You can live above your circumstances even when you're stuck in the middle of them because God's got you.

Playtime!
Playtime!
Tina was a terrible sister (when she was little). Hear a story that sounds awful, but is in fact accurate. Poor Chris. Poor Michael. Who is Michael, you ask? You'll want to listen to find out!
Today's episode talks about the importance of playtime in correlation with childhood development. It's essential to having healthy, happier, less-stressed kids!
WHY though, do we forget how important playtime is as we get older? Why aren't adults still having playtime? We NEED to spend time being creative, with no other purpose but to have fun doing it!

Thanks for your honesty
Being so open will help many who are struggling not only with self harm but family members who do not understand. Thank you again it helps me to understand better.
So good.
Thanks for your honest conversation. I appreciate the deep level of communication and vulnerability you girls model.
Must listen
I have been fortunate to know Jenny since grade school and have been able to be “counselled” by her through some of my hardest life’s seasons. I’m so excited that other people will get to learn from her and Tina on how they process their own traumas and scripts as they navigate their own life’s seasons ♥️
