The Oil are HOT & Chalmers has a Christmas tree rant

The Oil are HOT & Chalmers has a Christmas tree rant

The guys are back with a fresh edition of the Real Life Podcast to recap the Oilers five-game heater. The boys are looking like their old selves and that has the crew feeling good. They recapped the stomping of the Carolina Hurricanes, talked about Zach Hyman, and some changes made in the arena. They also pondered a hypothetical about serving time in prison, which brought up some interesting stories. They also quickly hit on a few NFL headlines and Chalmers unleashed a rant about Christmas time and the pros and cons of fake vs real trees.

Connor McDavid on the Canadian Walk of Fame, and recalling Jack Campbell

Connor McDavid on the Canadian Walk of Fame, and recalling Jack Campbell

The Oilers found themselves on an extended break, which meant there was plenty of time for shenanigans on the Monday episode of the Real Life Podcast. On today's show, the guys discussed McDavid at the Canada Walk of Fame, what's coming with Shohei Ohtani, and the neverending Oilers break.
Kicking off the podcast, the show started with a look at Connor McDavid being named to the Canadian Walk of Fame. Before the guys could even dig into the event, the topic changed almost immediately after the guys found out that Tyler met Kris Knoblauch at the U of A this past weekend. Getting back to the Canada Walk of Fame, the guys basically threw out every Canadian celebrity name they could think of to see if they found their way onto the Walk of Fame or not. Even though most of the names the guys came up with were included, there were a handful not yet named to the Walk of Fame, and the omissions were unacceptable to say the least. Changing gears, Tyler wanted to give an Ohtani update after what was admittedly a "bad weekend." Needless to say, a lot has changed over the last few days after varying MLB insiders have speculated that Ohtani has already made his decision and is leaving teams hopeful as a means of raking in more cash. Lastly, the fellas wrapped up the Monday episode of Real Life with some Oilers talk, as the team is still in 29th place overall even after the four-game win streak.

Jay's birthday, Tyler's trip to Philly, and killing off the Elf on the Shelf

Jay's birthday, Tyler's trip to Philly, and killing off the Elf on the Shelf

There's nothing better than winding down your week with a fresh episode of the Real Life Podcast to make sense of what's happening in the world. On today's episode, the boys celebrated Jay's birthday, recapped Tyler's trip to Philly, and whatever else was on their minds as the week wound down.
Kicking off the Thursday episode of the podcast, the guys got started with a tribute to Jay Downton as he was celebrating his birthday, prompting everyone to talk about how they celebrated earlier birthdays. Changing gears, Tyler gave a quick recap of his trip to Philly and how it was a magical experience to be down on the field for a Buffalo Bills game. He also talked about going to Hamilton and Book of Mormon and how he enjoyed both shows immensely even though he didn't really know what to expect from either of them. Changing gears, Chalmers asked for advice about what to do with his Elf on the Shelf. After playing the game with his boys for years, Chalmers is tired of the stress of finding new places for the elf to sit for 25 straight days. Somehow, talking about Elf on a Shelf led the guys to tell stories about their houses almost burning down. Lastly, the guys wrapped up the Thursday episode of Real Life with a dose of Oilers talk after the team rattled off three wins in a row.

The weather is fantastic, the Oilers are winning, and looking back on old movies

The weather is fantastic, the Oilers are winning, and looking back on old movies

Life always feels a little bit better after an Oilers win, and given that the team has now won two in a row, the boys were in fine form on the Monday episode of Real Life. On today's podcast, the guys discussed the El Nino winter we're working through, the Oilers' two big wins, and some of the guys' favourite movies.
Kicking off the podcast, the boys started with a discussion about the weather in Edmonton and how it's truly bizarre to have temperatures above zero in late November. But since it's too warm to ski and too cold to golf, this purgatory period is so strange given that we're used to having snow right now. Changing gears, the guys looked back at the Oilers' last two games and how those two wins were crucial for not only their spot in the standings but also the sanity of the fanbase. Digging into those two wins, there were so many players who picked up goals and points at a time when they desperately needed them, and the hope is now that they'll be able to keep the good times rolling. Shifting topics once again, the guys looked at the upcoming schedule and how the Oilers have some huge games coming over the next week or so. Lastly, the guys wrapped up the Monday episode of Real Life with a conversation about how sitcoms have all but disappeared, as it seems no one wants to write jokes that may age poorly.

The Elks are for sale, increasing attendance, and the Edmonton Oilers debacle

The Elks are for sale, increasing attendance, and the Edmonton Oilers debacle

There's nothing better than winding down your week with a fresh episode of the Real Life Podcast to make sense of what's happening in the world. On today's episode, the boys looked at the Elks being for sale, what's going on with the Oilers, and whether or not there's any path to fixing it.
Kicking off the Thursday episode of the podcast, the guys started with a conversation about the Edmonton Elks being up for sale, and what the guys think they're worth. Obviously, it will take someone with plenty of dough to swoop in and safe the team, but what is for sure is that whoever buys them has an incredible chance to rebuild the once-proud franchise. Despite having nothing to do with this sale, the guys sure had plenty of nifty ideas for what the team could do to inspire attendance. Turning the podcast back to the Oilers, the guys had a hard time finding any positives about what's going on right now. From the results on the ice to the reactions online, nothing is going right for the Oilers right now and it's causing the fans to go insane. Frankly, the list of reasons to be upset gets longer by the day, and that has some of the boys wondering what that means for the team's two stars. Does punting this season mean the end of the McDavid era? It almost feels like that's the case, and that's a painful reality for anyone who cheers for this franchise.

Wanye's Stanley Cup ring and Pro-Athlete Hell

Wanye's Stanley Cup ring and Pro-Athlete Hell

The pain just keeps coming for Edmonton Oilers fans after a painful loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning that they should have won, which meant there was plenty to talk about on the Monday episode of the Real Life podcast.
Kicking off the Monday episode of Real Life, the boys started with a story from Wanye about buying a Stanley Cup ring off eBay after a Nation Citizen brought it to his attention. Needless to say, owning a Stanley Cup ring is one of the most hilarious stories to ever come out of this company. Talking about the modern-day Oilers, the guys looked at the Jack Campbell situation after Frank Seravalli talked about what it might take to get rid of that contract on today's episode of Oilersnation Everyday. Even if Ken Holland can find a dance partner, would it be worth the cost needed to get rid of our goalie? Changing gears, the guys spent a little bit of time talking about what was a very exciting Grey Cup. Given that Baggedmilk was expecting to take a nap during the game, the fact that he was actually live-tweeting the event was almost as surprising as Montreal's comeback. Lastly, the guys wrapped up the Monday episode of Real Life with an array of topics after the boys ran out of prep and stared at each other until they decided to pull the pin.
