the podcast i'd want on a desert island

there's something magic about listening to someone read a story they love. and after each short story detonates inside you there is the soft landing of the reader & deborah treisman fiction editor talking it all over.

The companionship of a good story

I live in a remote Canadian town and this podcast accompanies me on my walk every day. I have so much love for the stories (yes, all of them, every single one, even the one about the frog wife).Deborah Treisman’s discussions are fantastic. The talk with Allan Gurganus about Grace Paley’s story where her father instructs her to massage her heart every morning, really massage it. I had to stop walking to weep properly. Thank you for this podcast. It is my favourite thing.
