Motivation for an injured OCR athlete

I was recommended to listen to this podcast as in dealing with a hip injury. I’m a half marathon runner and a Spartan racer. I came from being on the couch and 254lbs in 2013, told I was pre diabetic to losing 96.5lbs these last 5 years, and crushing races and new challenges. Also no loner testing pre diabetic This injury has left me on bed rest for over a month and with a long journey of possibly surgery and definitely recovery ahead of me still. My 2018 race season has been taken away as my surgeon told me I cannot race this year. Lying in bed every day waiting for medical tests and solutions, not training or working, makes you feel very alone. And then I began to listen to this podcast. The guests they have are helpful and bring me out of this funk. So while I can’t physically train, by listening to this podcast, I’m mentally training myself. Since I have the time, I’ve gone back as far as I can and working to catch up on the episodes. I listen to 4 or 5 podcasts a day and all have been helpful, some more than most. And it keeps my passion alive to return to what I’m missing. Also the talks about nutrition have kept me motivated to keep up my nutrition plan so I don’t fall back to where I was - and even without working out and in bed rest, I’m losing weight but sticking to my nutrition plan. Thank you Phil and Eli for pulling this fellow Spartan woman out of her funk and for making me believe that this time off can be useful too.

Suffering withdrawal

You know how much you like a podcast when one does not come out at the routine time and pod withdrawal occurs! Best OCR podcast by far, quality content useful in training from an array of athletes and as a bonus, entertaining hosts! Thanks

Get good shoes, this podcast and hit the trails

Discovered the world of OCR just about a year ago, became an instant addict. Luckily found this podcast in short time and it’s remained one of the few that I listen to while training. Great to hear some insight on courses I have raced or will experience in the future. Entertaining accounts of each race from the hosts, as well as a good dose of tips on how to prep yourself for your next OCR.

Keep up the good work. See you on the hills!
