Pen Pals Hailing Frequencies Open

This week we find the crew of the Enterprise investigating planetary breakups in the Selcundi Drema Sector. After discussions with the Senior staff Riker assigns Wesley Crusher to lead this investigation. Meanwhile, Data is attempting to increase the frequency range of the ship's sensors, and in doing so, has made contact with a child from one of the planets in the system. Though they try to carry on like Data has not been contacted, the crew must intervene when the child asks for help. Can Wesley effectively lead a team of people? Will Data be reprimanded for his actions? Does Troi know how to ride a horse? Does Data kidnap a child? Do they figure out how to stop the planetary breakups?
