Great idea!

I'm not a kid, but I found these short 6-minute podcasts perfect for getting acquainted with composers, music genres, and a bit of history without getting into too much detail and time commitment. You know you will never read a full biography of Brahms! This will give you an idea and a sense of the music to go along with it. The host and creator keeps it light and entertaining.
