Gary's (Almost) Daily Rants & rAVes: This will be a short two-minute daily (or almost daily) podcast from our founder, Gary Kayye, and he'll tell you what's up, what's new and what to watch for, that day.
Rants and rAVes — Episode 1031: Get Ready for Kayye’s Krystal Ball Webinar Presented by Almo Pro A/V — With Some Help from LG!
Get ready for Gary's annual Krystal Ball webinar presented by Almo Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2021, at 2 p.m. EST. LG's Adam Coleman and Dan Baker joined Gary in the latest Rants & rAVes videocast and gave a sneak peek of what to expect in 2021 from LG, related explicitly to microLED and webOS technologies. Register for the (AVIXA CTS-RU-approved) webinar next week with Gary and Almo Pro A/V — sponsored by LG — and receive access to the corresponding Krystal Ball article 24 hours before anyone else!
Rants and rAVes — Episode 1030: The LED Install Gods — Ion Visual Solutions
When Samsung has a touch LED install, they turn to a Texas-based startup called Ion Visual Solutions. Started by former AMX'er Chas Thornhill and former Reflect Project Manager Jay Seng, the two are the Ghostbusters of LED installs. When a wall isn't flat but Samsung still needs a flat LED wall, who are they gonna call? Ion. When they need a three-week install to take fewer than 10 days, who are they gonna call? Ion. But — take note that Ion also does Absen, LG, Dak and any other LED brand, too.
Here's a video interview with both Jay and Chaz about how they do it all!
Rants and rAVes — Episode 1029: The Sony REA-C1000 Is, Literally, the Best-Kept Secret in AV Right Now
The Sony REA-C1000 has won four industry awards — including two from rAVe — and you’d never know it. Dubbed the “Edge Analytics Appliance,” the REA-C1000 is really four separate products in one: a chroma-key-less CG Overlay (meaning it can generate a virtual background anywhere at any time without a green screen), a PTZ auto-tracking system, a handwriting extraction generator and a streaming appliance. Yep, all four — in one box.
Gary first saw this product a couple of years ago but was given a one-on-one demo of the REA-C1000 a few months ago by Sony Sales Support Engineer Kianna Pompa. He was so impressed by it that he asked her to join him on today’s videocast for a live demo, followed by a Sony-made four-minute sizzle reel that explains EXACTLY how the REA-C1000 works. This video is well worth your time, and after watching it, you’ll want one, too! (P.S. the REA-C1000 is now available from Almo Pro A/V!)
Rants and rAVes — Episode 1028: Want to Know About Planar’s EverCare Lifetime Warranty Program? Watch This!
Few companies ever offer a lifetime warranty. And fewer ever offer them on display products. But, Planar just one-upped the entire LED market with its EverCare program — offering a limited lifetime warranty on the entire TVF Series of LED wall displays! Yep, a LIFETIME warranty. Why and how can the company do this? Well, Gary Kayye was joined by Planar’s executive vice president of sales, marketing and pro Services, Adam Schmidt, to explain it all. Spoiler alert: This further establishes Planar as a LED leader — and sends a strong message to both AV integrators and to any customer in the market for LED.
Rants and rAVes — Episode 1027: ViewSonic’s All-in-One LED Includes a 1.5-millimeter 135″ and a 1.8-millimeter 163″
Gary was joined on Tuesday's videocast by ViewSonic's director of business line management for commercial displays, David Naranjo, who talked about the benefits (and applications) of its new 1.5-millimeter pixel pitch 135" and 1.8-millimeter pixel pitch 163" all-in-one LED products. These are already shipping and have a unique refresh rate as well as a built-in digital signage platform — listen/watch below! Once you've done that, visit ViewSonic's Direct View LED Displays page on its website to learn even more.
Editor's Note: Since publishing this story, ViewSonic has increased the refresh rate on its 135" (LD135-151) and 163" (LD163-181) models from 3,840 hertz to 4,440 hertz.
Rants and rAVes — Episode 1026: Study With Steph to Get Your CTS!
rAVe’s own Steph Beckett joined Gary on his latest videocast to talk about an all-new podcast logically titled: Study With Steph. Steph’s been in AV for a few years now, and Gary challenged her to get her AVIXA CTS certification. Well, challenge accepted. But, since Steph never does anything alone, she’s taking you along on her CTS journey — so any and all AV’ers (who want to get their CTS too) can listen to her weekly Study With Steph podcast coming your way in January 2021. And, it’ll all culminate in a “Stephception” at InfoComm 2021 where Steph and all her CTS study buddies will take the CTS test together (and drink wine, too). Listen and watch to see how you can participate in Study With Steph!
