    Janelle K Jones: Solving marriage challenges ** RE-RELEASE **

    Janelle K Jones: Solving marriage challenges ** RE-RELEASE **

    ** Summer Podcast Re-Release Series **

“I can’t get my partner to take responsibility”
“We feel disconnected from each other”
“Marriage just doesn’t feel the same anymore, what do we do?”
Satisfaction in the marriage plummeting and the effect it can have on our children can result in behavioural issues and long term effects that may not be known until much later on in life. Our guest, Janelle J Jones tells us the solution arises in how conflict and resolution is managed to have a positive impact on children as they witness the power of effective communication.
Janelle is a Registered Clinical Counsellor who specializes in individual and couples counselling. As a mother of 2, she began to realize that the women and men in her parenthood support community were continually facing the same common difficulties. Many identified with feeling burdened by the mental load of balancing competing household/relationship/work and family responsibilities. Others felt they had lost their identities along the road of becoming a mother or parent. With these complex challenges came extraordinary guilt, energy depletion, loss of patience and in some cases depression and anxiety. It was then that Janelle founded Modern Mom & Marriage Counselling and committed herself to helping mothers and couples find the joy and balance in parenting.

Tools for the Trade: I'm Bored

It’s the first week of summer vacation. How long do you have until you hear the dreaded phrase, “I’m Bored?"
But what does it really mean? Julie and Gail shares tips on how being bored is not a bad thing, and how to change it to something we can do.
Julie Freedman Smith has been involved in teaching for the past 24 years. Her experience as an Elementary/Jr. High music teacher, a choral conductor with the Calgary Boys Choir, and a choral clinician has resulted in extensive opportunities to work with children and adults in both individual and group environments. An inspiring speaker, Julie is a natural performer, having directed and performed in choirs throughout the world. Her honesty and down-to-earth nature contribute strongly to the relationships she forms with the families she helps. Julie holds B.Sc. Biology and a B.A. Psychology with Distinction from the University of Calgary.
Gail Bell’s career has always involved working with children, both in home and abroad. Her 20+ years in the public and private school systems both as an educator in the classroom, and as an administrator provides her with a broad experience base and unique insight when working with children and parents. Gail easily engages an audience with her enthusiasm for parenting, and her belief that all children want to learn, try their best, and do what is right, contributes to her goal of building positive relationships between parents and children. Gail holds a B.Ed. with Distinction and a M.A. (Honours) in Administration and Curriculum Development from Gonzaga University.

Dietitian and parent

I think Julie and Gail have a brilliant way of sharing their expansive knowledge while also inviting parents to think about how the information fits within a family's unique set of values. Parenting can look different with different families and with different kids. Julie and Gail help parents discover how parenting can work better while honouring family values.

Great content from serious experts

Julie and Gail have decades of experience helping so many families and it shows. They bring their awareness of common major issues for families and answer some of my burning questions whether about toddler meltdowns, screen time or empowering my kids to be happy and capable. Excellent content!

Useful parenting conversations that do not talk down to the listener

Gail and Julie have a positive attitude towards parenting, understanding that each family has potentially different values and priorities. The 3 podcasts that I have listened to are not overly long and easy to digest. There are no commercials in the podcast. I really liked the talks on sports (ep 1) and technology at home (ep 3). The 2nd podcast was very short but that makes sense since it was quick advise on climbing toddlers.
