Rink Wide: Vancouver Go Goat Sports

A streaking Wild team rolled into town and looked to continue their win streak under the new coach, but the Canucks had other plans tonight. Even though on paper there were a couple of fights, they looked more like the Minnesota Mild tonight, as the teams battled it out in what turned out to be a low event hockey game. Casey DeSmith posted a solid game to backstop Vancouver to a 2-0 shutout and put an end to Minny's win streak.

It was Hughes Day Tuesday at Rogers Arena as Captain Quinn and the Canucks played host to Jack and Luke's New Jersey Devils. The 2 younger brothers scored to put the Devils up to a big lead early, but the Canucks battled all the way back in the 3rd period to tie it up at 5 on the back of a couple of Quinn assists, only to have Jesper Bratt spoil the party with a goal with only 30 seconds left to go in the game to give the Devils the 6-5 win.

The Canucks bounce back after a loss to Vegas with a 4-3 win over division rivals, the Cagary Flames. Captain Quinn opened the scoring and set the tone with a goal, followed by a big night from Ilya Mikayev. Nikita Zadorov assisted on the game winning goal in his first game as a Canuck to help bury his old team.

Vegas baby, Vegas!!! Unfortunately it was ALL Vegas on this night in Vancouver. The Canucks were just not up to the test against the defending Stanley Cup champions and current Western Conference leaders. Demko stopped 41 of 45 shots to hold up his end of the bargain, but there was just no offense to be found in a game where Pettersson had zero shot attempts in the entire game. Zero. Are we still saying there's nothing bothering EP40?

The Ducks flew into town to face the Canucks in what was a 'must-win' game for Vancouver in a lot of ways. Thatcher Demko stood tall to keep the Canucks in the game as they were grossly outshot for the first half, but the Boys in Black finally found themselves and picked up the pace in the 3rd period. Captain Quinn's point streak came to an end, but Brock scored twice to pull into sole possession of the NHL scoring lead and to seal the deal on a 3-1 Canucks victory.

The Canucks faced off against the worst team in the league, the SJ Sharks tonight, and lost. Vancouver pushed hard at the end, but it was too little, too late. JT Miller had points on all of the Canucks goals, Hronek with a goal and an assist, Petey managed a point and Captain Quinn tied the all time point streak record for Canucks defensemen set waaaaaaaay back.... last week, by Hronek.
