    S3E3: Noddy Holder

This week on Rockonteurs we meet the total tour de force that is Noddy Holder. Slade were one of the UK’s most successful bands of the 1970s with a string of unforgettable hits. In this episode he chats to Guy and Gary about those ‘crazee’ days that included driving a young Robert Plant around, his love of Little Richard, inventing part of the stage runway that all the major acts of today use and trying to avoid playing THE Christmas song to an audience of 65,000 at the Reading Festival in the middle of summer! Noddy is a legend and you can hear the band at their live best in ‘All The World Is A Stage’ – it’s as good a live box set as you’ll hear. It’s out now! The best music podcast out there!

I regularly listen to a dozen or more music related podcasts and this one is the best. Gary and Guy often have stories that intersect with the weekly guests and those are always very interesting and often hilarious. This is the one podcast I immediately listen to when it’s released in Saturday night in Western Canada. Cheers!

Fantastic

Fantastic series! The hosts are music enthusiasts without an axe to grind (rare on music podcasts) and because they’re musicians they know their stuff. The interview with Giles Martin was top. But EVERYONE should listen to the interview with Glen Matlock. Well done gents! And thanks for your own music as well. (And myself, I don’t mind the occasional drop into gear talk, just so you know there’s a listener who digs that) Just finished the interview with Steven Wilson. Excellent too! This has become my favourite podcast! And the one with Marianne was brilliant and heartbreaking. Thanks guys.

Edit: So sorry that you’re not coming to Toronto. I was so excited to see you. I hold out hope that it’s only a matter of months. You guys are top!

Favorite podcast…Sting?

I’d really love to hear you guys interview Sting and talk about pre-Police days as well as his bass playing. It seems to get overlooked a lot but he’s an incredible player.
