Episode 65: Unraveling Body Patterns of Anxiety

Episode 65: Unraveling Body Patterns of Anxiety

Today’s class is a 60 minute Feldenkrais® Awareness Through Movement lesson. This is the intro class to my upcoming 8-week Feldenkrais® series, Unraveling Body Anxiety which you can join live on Zoom or via the class recordings. In this series, we will be exploring the subject of anxiety and how it manifests in our bodies. Please approach this class with ease. This is different from yoga, where you may arrive in an asana and stay there. Instead we are doing small movements. You will repeat the directions slowly and rest in between actions.  In today's lesson there is an emphasis on the "letting go" of the movement. If you have never done a Feldenkrais® lesson, I suggest you read these guidelines for practicing Awareness Through Movement. This podcast is an intersection of my yoga teaching and my training in the Feldenkrais® method. Classes include sensory rich movement experiences for a more resilient and healthy nervous system to help you feel a greater sense of ease and comfort in yourself. You can find more subtle body Feldenkrais audio classes on my website Body Matter, as well as registration for live online classes, self-paced courses and on demand yoga video classes.  Please leave a review on itunes, google, or wherever you get your podcasts to help spread this offering! Episode 61: Spinal Explorations

    Episode 61: Spinal Explorations

This is a 75 minute Level 1-2 class taught live. This is a Feldenkrais® inspired class. As many of you know, I also teach the Feldenkrais® method. And this class is an example of my blended Yoga + Feldenkrais® classes. Each class infuses more traditional yoga asana practice with the Feldenkrais® Awareness Through Movement method. You can think of it as an interdisciplinary excursion of yoga, Feldenkrais, self-massage, breathing exercises, movement puzzles, and a compassionate mindset - to help you feel a greater sense of ease and comfort in yourself. In this class, we start with a longer somatic exploration using a blanket roll for support in helping you feel and soften the spine. At the end of class a number of concepts are brought together to create a continuous moving backbend practice. This is meant to move in and out of, and to slowly repeat just as you might in a Feldenkrais class.    We will make a single blanket roll or cylinder. We will use a strap and two blocks.  Sarah has been creating podcast classes since 2007. Each podcast is an originally crafted yoga class taught by Sarah Baumert. Excellent

These classes have really helped me get through stress from the pandemic and other life events. Thank you so much, Sarah!

The only review I’ve ever written anywhere

Sarah, I only just discovered your podcast about six months ago and I love it! I’ve searched for yoga podcasts for a long time now, and yours is one of the most enjoyable while being easy to follow and with such knowledgable guidance. I’m a yoga instructor myself and I love how much I learn from your classes. I also love the variety of classes you’ve shared here. How much fun you let yourself and your students have makes me wish I could participate in person! (I’m in northern Canada though).. I hope you will think about putting out some fresh episodes someday in the future if you can! 🙏🏻♥️
