Episode 400 | An Ethos of Faithful Filmgoing

Episode 400 | An Ethos of Faithful Filmgoing

After 400 episodes, we've reached the end. But before we go, Kevin and Sarah have a conversation about their ethos of faithful movie criticism, bringing the podcast full circle to a conversation Kevin and Wade had with Josh Larsen (Think Christian, Filmspotting, Fear Not!) in the earliest days of the podcast.
This is our final weekly podcast episode. Thank you for listening. We're not packing up our critical gear entirely: Seeing & Believing is now a newsletter. Keep the conversation going by giving us a follow on Substack or Letterboxd.

For the Watchlist, Kevin chooses Robert Altman's 2001 murder mystery of manners, Gosford Park.

Episode 396 | Landscape with Invisible Hand & Modern Times

Sarah and Kevin explore a dystopian sci-fi story in the form of Landscape with Invisible Hand, the latest movie from Cory Finley adapted from an M.T. Anderson novel of the same name, about a pair of teens who live under a vaguely benevolent alien occupation that's drained the planet of its jobs and resources. For the Watchlist, Sarah and Kevin talk about another story that has to do with finding love in a hopeless economy: Charlie Chaplin's 1936 film Modern Times.

I feel smarter after listening to these guys

I get so much more out of the movies I watch after listening to this podcast.

Wade is my movie hero.

I’ve never been a fan of film criticism but Wade and Kevin do a great job of discussing movies in a way that engaging and fun. Wade’s persuasive opinions in particular have gotten me into the theatre a number of times, and I wasn’t disappointed.

Whether you’re a believer or not, this is a solid film podcast. They generally feel that Christian movies aren’t that great so you’ve got that in common to start.
