Raising True Free Range Birds with Darcy from The Crowded Roost
Darcy from The Crowded Roost shares how they go from teaching in the classroom to teaching on social media about raising pastured birds in Oklahoma.
Darcy and her family came to our ranch for a Meet and Greet in Summer 2021, that's when I learned about their story that they wanted to teach their children where food comes from, learning about responsibility, and sharing recipes online based on what they grow on their farm.
The Crowded Roost is free range turkey and chicken, check out their social media and website to learn more about their farm.
Planning for the unexpected leave of the farm
What happens when you're gone off the farm for the day, a week, a month?
This last few weeks we have been absent on this podcast because one of our family members have been in the hospital. This prompted the question, WHO or HOW will the ranch still run?
My piece of advice, invite your friends, family, neighbors to join in on your daily routine just in case someone needs to step in. I know if you're like me, you LOVE your farm life, and being away from the farm isn't something that happens often. I know sharing your routine and inviting others to your farm might be something you can do the next time you socialize to invite others to join in on the farm life, I know they will love it!
Thanks for listening!
Are you CLUELESS about FARMING? Start a farm, find the right animals, what equipment, find land, what to build.
Cindy & Mark call themselves the CLUESSLESS FARM. We share stories about starting a farm from scratch! Today's episode is perfect for someone who wants the ins and outs of where to buy animals, breeders vs auctions, what equipment is needed, how to find land even without a realtor, using social media, and more!
Some of the animals we dive into is Scottish Highland Cows, Chickens, mini donkeys, and alpacas.
Cindy says, "hopefully we can help someone else, because there is always someone else that is two steps behind you. I want them to see that you're going to come across issues but everything is figure-out-able. I think there is strength in numbers.
