This Summer I sat down with Jenny Wun (West One Real Estate, Oakwyn Realty) for a chat on her amazing "In The House Podcast".







We discussed everything from my experience as a young director who eventually became Board Chair and Spokesperson at the Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver, trends I've seen in the real estate industry over the last decade, my own emerging personal business and marketing practices, and what I see moving forward. We even dive a little bit into my newly found TikTok addiction, and explore some tips on how to find organic growth and influence on social media in 2020.

A New Era in Real Estate? In June 2020 Ashley sat down for a LIVE-STREAM interview with Heather Clifford and "Keep it Simple Social Media" to discuss the new era in real estate, in particular from a REALTORS' perspective. How can a proactive real estate professional leverage technology - especially video - to effectively support their business, help best serve their clients, and of course, promote and market their listings in a COVID-19 world? Could this impact business practices moving forward? She says "YES!" (very loudly).







Hang tight for a fulsome discussion, which also includes thoughts on the Greater Vancouver real estate market in 2020, the shift towards a more "work from home" landscape, and what this all may mean for real estate and regional vacation trends in British Columbia.







PS. After she finished this interview, Ashley realized she had probably done closer to 40 live-stream open houses (not 20)! To date, she has likely done closer to 75. Ashley is very excited to announce that her premiere guest on the podcast is the one-and-only Vancouver media maven, Fiona Forbes!







Listen as Fiona recounts her early days as a TV talk show host, initially a gig she auditioned for on a dare from her father to help her overcome her self-described paralyzing fear of public speaking - all for the sake of learning whether or not she would be up for a career as a lawyer (and having to speak in front of courtrooms). After years of preparing for law school, Fiona bravely pivoted towards an extremely successful career in media to become one of the best-known names in the city.







Fiona's story is one about trying new things, finding your passion, listening to your gut, and navigating an unknown and evolving landscape with courage and accountability. Today, as a successful freelancer (and entrepreneur - whether she calls herself one or not), she manages a busy, yet mostly balanced West Coast lifestyle which includes a number of roles, gigs, titles, and ongoing adaptability - including her new role as Vice President of Production and Content at InvestmentPitch Media.







In her 20+ year career, Fiona Forbes has won many awards and accolades for her work in media, which includes production, TV, radio, print, and an impressive 17 year run hosting on Shaw TV (most notably "The Rush" and "Urban Rush"). She has interviewed over 30,000 people, including influential leaders such as David Suzuki, politicians (including Prime Ministers), actors (hear her experience interviewing then-actor and bodybuilder - now political figure - Arnold Schwarzenegger), and so many more.







She offers expert advice to young people seeking a career in media - one that is anything but traditional in 2019. In the end, raw talent matters the most, but a commitment to the craft is key. What Fiona also clearly displays is strong versatility and the ability to continuously look forward and explore new avenues and ideas - an asset for any entrepreneur.

Ashley Smith | 30-Something Realtor, Chair of the Board, and mostly still figuring it all out.







This is Ashley Smith's long-awaited (by her) first podcast episode. Mainly an intro to her and intentions with the show, as well as a slight peek in to her procrastinating tendencies and her strife with becoming a mid-30 something who has had some success, but is pursuing life purpose (maybe it's an elder millennial thing). Basically, it's time for her to put her thoughts and voice out in to this crazy world, with hopes of adding value to the listener through interviews, interesting and timely topics, thinking about leadership, business, entrepreneurship, and the future - all with a Canadian twist.







Ashley is a REALTOR® in Vancouver, British Columbia - but this show will not be predominantly about her business (though we expect some casual fall-backs in to the conversation around the housing market and related issues). She also currently sits as the President (Chair and Media Spokesperson) for the Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver in 2019 - its 100th year in operation. Her unique perspective as the youngest-ever (and 5th female) President of the 14,000+ member organization, has helped shape the way she looks at the world, and she is keen to lean in to leadership in other organizations and sectors in the years to come.







Ashley dives in to her plan to bring in Canadian entrepreneurs, artists, community and business leaders, to explore emerging trends, strategies, and complex issues - primarily from the Vancouver area (for now).







This is really a beta episode, but she hopes you enjoy getting to know a little bit about her thoughts and the way she sees the current landscape. Originally this intro show was meant as a "sound-check", so no notes or thoughts were outlined prior to recording. Mostly she had a glass of wine and decided to randomly go for it after 4-5 years of putting it off.
