Nurses On The Inside - An Interview with Ellen Matzer and Valery Hughes

Nurses On The Inside - An Interview with Ellen Matzer and Valery Hughes

On Tuesday, January 23, while onstage at Madison Square Garden, Madonna spoke about, and to, two nurses who had been on the frontlines during the HIV/AIDS epidemic in New York City in the 1980's and 1990's. Her words paid homage to these unsung heroes, and Valery Hughes and Ellen Matzer sat down with me for today's episode of the podcast to talk about their experiences, their bond and their shared history, among other things.

Thank you!

When I was attending medical school in Montreal, I discovered Bram’s yoga class. I’m so thankful for that! With the hectic and demanding schedule, I was suffering and dreamt of quitting on a daily basis. However Bram saved me. Every time I go to his class, I felt like he gave me CPR and I can go back to the (perceived) torture again. Now that I’m in Toronto, I’m itching for his class and his teaching. I’m sooooo thankful that Bram decided to start this podcast. Bram’s teachings and philosophy reminds me of the important things in life. Thank you!

A treasure

The Examined Life offers listeners a compendium of stories meant to inspire deeper thinking about how we can challenge ourselves to live fuller, more honest, and richer lives. It reminds us of the importance of remaining present in order to take care of ourselves and of each other. It is a treasure, left for the public by Bram Levinson, who is thoughtful, sometimes deeply philosophical, often whimsical and comical, to those of us who chose to listen and to hear his hopes for us and our world.
