Episode 224: Post Apocalyptic Summer Camp

Where else but GBW are you going to hear about swashbuckling, an underrated 90's power pop band and crazy girls all in the same episode? Nowhere.

This time out we get some TV movie summer camp shenanigans, checked out Rose Glass' LOVE LIES BLEEDING, Josh bemoans the state of "torture porn" of the mid-2000's, Lara Flynn Boyle goes crazy, pirates sing and dance, George A. Romero gets medieval (sort of), there's all sorts of submarine drama, truckers don't take no guff and so much more!

    Episode 223: Air Sax

    Episode 223: Air Sax

Sixteen movies are covered on this episode but first we share our thoughts on the 2024 Oscars: the good, the not so good and any surprises.

Then it's on to the flicks and, this time, we're all over the place with Bruce Willis doing the nasty, Burt Reynolds being a cool cowboy, a tween girl getting bloody revenge, the most bizarre "two Corey's" movie ever, a finale to the O.G. Planet of the Apes franchise, a crime comedy with a great cast that was dumped by its studio, a sheriff who REALLY doesn't like speeders, some "Air Sax" and so much more!

Episode 222: Creepy Old Men (& Other Tales)

Step right up as we talk about sixteen movies that are rife with inappropriate old dudes, slow-motion overuse and even gut munching.

This time we're returning to the Planet of the Apes, the Italians are ripping off Hollywood yet again, Jet Li shows how he became a star, babysitter Keri Russell gets up to all sorts of mischief, Joe D'Amato directs a horror flick with a difficult to pronounce name, we discover the inspiration for Kevin Smith, some kids want new parents even if their chosen adults aren't down with that and so much more!

    Episode 221: Poorly Aged

We've got another batch of twenty movies that crossed our eyeballs since the last time we spoke and, as usual, it's an eccentric batch.

This time out we've got Gary Busey at his most unhinged (if that even possible?), we get two non-traditional westerns, some bad 90's CG rears its ugly head, the sun makes a guy go from jerk to lizard(!?), we visit a haunted asylum, 2023 horror continues to underwhelm us, Sybil Danning can't motivate this "squad", a giant octopus causes havoc and so much more!

    Episode 220: Let's Boogie!

It's hard to say if the twenty movies we cover this time are the most eccentric batch in a while but they're certainly all over the place.

This time out we get ready to proclaim "everybody cut, everybody cut", amble around 70's Los Angeles with Kris Kristofferson, talk about the Oscar nominated THE ZONE OF INTEREST, learn about love from Sailor and Lula, discover that the key to winning basketball is astrology(??), complain about serial killer movie cash-ins, document Satanic panic, discover a lesser-known Italian action flick and so much more!

Best genre cinema podcast out there

At some point last summer I was made aware of the existence of a genre film podcast created by two true fans of the genre, Chris Hartley and Josh Pasnak.
Well, let me tell you that 75 episodes in, truer words were never spoken.
Above and beyond the very large spectrum of movies covered by these two guys, it is by far, their love and profound knowledge of the genre that keeps me going back to them every time I have a chance to do so.
Looking forward to the next 118 episodes as I will eventually catch up and be up to date with the podcast, hopefully sometime before 2024...
The fact that they never take themselves too seriously and the continual banter that can only exist between old friends keeps me entertained through and through.
Honestly, I don't know how I will cope with the wait when I finally do catch up, because then it will mean I have to wait for weeks on end before they broadcast their next episode.

Love these guys!!!!

Josh and Chris are awesome on these podcasts! It’s like you are hanging out with friends, chatting about movies you’ve seen (and they always leave me wanting to watch the ones they talk about that I haven’t seen yet!). They are incredibly knowledgeable about film, cast and crew, and it’s always a good time to listen to them compare notes. I definitely couldn’t have gotten through the first 48 hours post-laser eye surgery without these podcasts, it made the time fly by. Keep up the great work, guys!!!

50th episode !

I just listened to the 50th episode of the GBW podcast and it was awesome ! Listening to Tod Masters talk about the old and new days in the special makeup effects field was great fun. He seems like a very genuine, good guy. This might be a hard episode to top but I am sure it will happen. Keep up the great work !
