This is my retelling of the story of England, in a regular, chronological podcast, from the cataclysmic end of Roman Britain, all the way through to the present day. I’m a bloke in a shed, so this is not a dry retelling of events; I make sure this is good, properly prepared history, but I fill it with my love and enthusiasm, and some of the things that make me laugh. You’ll find the great events and people for sure – but also some of the byways, of how people lived, their language, and the forces that shaped their lives and destinies.

A delight! ❤️

David is a delight to listen to! His enthusiasm and knowledge make me excited to listen to every episode. My only fear is that my friends might start getting annoyed that I keep pestering them to listen! Thank you so much David!

Excellent

Terrific podcast. Very detailed and comprehensive to provide a strong sense of how things happened and why actors made the decisions they did, including the deeper trends at play. David is very amiable and dynamic as the storyteller, with enjoyable interjections to lighten the listener's mood. I highly recommend.

Avid fan

Took me 5 months of binge listening to catch up to the most recent episode of the most complete history podcast I have ever listened to. Over 7 dedicated years this podcaster has compiled a complete history of England and we are only up to Bloody Mary. Easy to listen to and with that touch of English humour to make each episode endearing and enjoyable.
