The Impromptu is a weekly technology podcast, hosted by Michael Norton and Alex Knight. It’s a multi-faceted show discussing how technology, design, and economics converge on topics that matter most to us. We examine the creative process and how the decisions we make, shape our perceptions and lives.
It's Really Not for You
Alex loses his mind over Apple Watch Series 5 LTE setup woes, Mac Pro and XDR display launches, Oculus Quest VR looks like a great update, is 2020 the year for an ARM CPU MacBook, and Away's CEO steps down.
Wurtzite Crystal Structure
Analysts speculate on Apple adding yet another iPhone to next year's line, what are the challenges of 5G modems, and how is Gallium Nitride and mini LED going to change how we manufacture electronics?
Tesla launches a Bladerunner-esque electric truck, we follow-up on the general reaction to Valve Software's Half Life Alyx VR, and figure out if Google Stadia is any good.
The MacBook Pro We Needed
Disney+ launches to a massive success, Apple releases the 16" MacBook pro, iOS 13.2.3 is out with bug fixes, and Half Life Alyx VR is announced.
Banning Political Ads on Social Media
Twitter bans political ads on their platform, Adobe unleashes Creative Suite updates, and major iOS 13 bugs continue to linger and annoy both users and developers.
Putting The "Pro" into AirPods
We examine the marvelous technologies crammed into the new AirPods Pro. It’s hard to believe what Apple has managed to achieve in such a tiny package.
The guys are knowledgeable and have a free-flowing style. The topics are interesting and give a non- fanboy perspective.
The only issue is that they can be too negative towards other pod casters. While a lot of the criticism is on point, the delivery often is quite catty. A more measured delivery would be better.
Love these guys!
This podcast is a perfect balance between super-techy experts and knowledgeable consumers. Super spot on about many issues in my view and they do a great and entertaining job of explaining what's happening in Tech without getting too "in the weeds"... they really know their stuff down to the details(especially Michael) yet explains everything in a light and accessible way that sometimes gets away from "those other tech podcasts".. keep it going guys you're my new Monday morning re-re-refresh! :)
