    The JaK Attack! Episode 2018.46

    Welcome to show number 2018.46

It's sooooo hot in Canada. And everywhere. 30C/86F around here.

Jon is learning more about data centers than he ever wanted to.

Kelly has been going to a lot of Plein Air art festivals.

    07:00 - Kelly's Corner

We just want to apologize to Denmark now.

Kelly tells us about some technologies that simply will not exist in 20 years.

Cell phone towers is the most interesting thing on the list...?

The Seiko Kinetic watch is still a thing. Who knew?

Clone #2 does not get paid as much as Brad Pitt would.

30:00 - Jon talks about Boxcryptor

There are far to many cloud storage providers.

    Pros:

hooks into your existing cloud service provider and encrypts your stuff.

    Cons:

There is no way to rename or delete a file on the iOS that you've added to Boxcryptor via the Boxcryptor app. You need to use the native (Dropbox, etc) app for that...???

Seems your key is stored on the Boxcryptor services (but it is encrypted).

Not clear what happens when your yearly subscription expires.

    48:40 - Cooperstown news

Dog Wild hosts a second dog adoption day!

51:20 - Shout Outs and Bork Outs

    Kelly hates Alignable

Here’s some actually fun facts about Canada.

”eh” is in the Canadian Oxford dictionary. Yeah. The Canadian one.

Santa’s postal code is H0H 0H0. And only elves that work for Canada Post answer them.

There are three basic responses to GDPR: shut down the site, block European peeps, or comply.

Racism Watchdog is Jon's new favourite Twitter account

Kelly is shipping art out for the season before she goes to Prince Edward Island (it's pronounced "pay")

09:00 - Kelly's Corner - the top 10 countries to visit in 2018 according to Lonely Planet.

Trip Advisor either had the "Twitter problem" or is a diabolical genius

    How do you pronounce Mauritius?

The elevated highway market place in South Korea sounds very cool.

Jon doesn't actually know where Kelly's favourite wine is from.

27:00 - Jon talks about Steven Gibson's SQRL

Secure Quick Reliable Login (the acronym also works because it uses QR codes)

Jon's Google Auth on Linux article

You can get SQRL libraries here to implement into your own applications

The cops take down a CRA scammer office in India!

Kelly had her 9th annual art show last week.

Jon talks about Presearch - the decentralized search engine

An advertising company controls pretty much all of the search on the internet

Search has become warped and Google has entirely too much power to affect commerce

What would internet search look like if all the curation was taken away?

Kelly is worried she'll blow up if she googles google

Decentralized search is not in this version, and the UI is really hard to use

    Version two may be better

    26:00 - Kelly's Corner

Follow Kelly's Crazy Studio Mix on Spotify

Spotify will stop promoting artists whose conduct or content is deemed to be offensive

It seems weird to go after "conduct"

It's been a busy week! Tin-foil hats actually increase signal strength, and Elon Musk is making a cyborg dragon. So...there's that.

The show is late because Jon had to go to Miami. And see Cuban Ozzy!

    SaltScapes Expo was last weekend.

Kelly liked Upstreet Craft Brewing from PEI.

    08:30 - Kelly's Corner

Kelly wants to save listener feedback for the listener feedback segment

Full disclosure: Kelly did not save the listener feedback

Kelly talks about Erika Iris' Cassette Tape Art

Was Bruno Mars alive in 2012? He looks pretty young.

19:15 - Jon talks about Ngrok - the introspective tunneling tool

Use Ngrok to allow public access to services running on your local machine

Web servers, ssh servers, mail servers, whatever

Replay requests, inspect payloads, easily test with mobile devices, and more

There's a free level, then prices go up from there for things like custom sub/domains, and more sessions

    34:00 - Listener Feedback

Don't forget about our Express VPN contest! Listen to the show for instructions how to enter a draw to win a year subscription to ExpressVPN
