11 episodes

Join Seth Meyers as he sits down with fellow SNL alum and comedy-music sensations The Lonely Island (Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer, and Jorma Taccone) to discuss their wildly popular and groundbreaking series of SNL Digital Shorts that aired on Saturday Night Live beginning in 2005. Episode by episode they'll discuss how each short was created, what the response to it was at the time, and what impact, if any, it still has today. Aided by Seth, the guys will relive their time at SNL and reminisce on the nearly 50-year-old show from a time when putting short comedy sketches on the internet was so novel that they maybe even helped launch YouTube to do it. Along the way they'll talk all things SNL from guests, fellow cast members, and favorite live sketches including many that never aired.

Needs improvement

I’d rate this podcast higher if this wasn’t a zoomcast. This isn’t 2020 no more so get a studio and up the sound quality. It’s kinda crazy how these celebrities can’t afford to meet up in person in an actual studio. Second, if SNL is going to get referenced so much, they should think about a visual component. I mean, they’re already putting the audio up on YouTube might as well put a video behind it. Third, the banter is actually better then what Seth tries to stay on script, just be dudes who talk about stuff. As much as I like the SNL throwbacks, you could do with much less of it. Also, is Seth broke? Why does he need to put his home on Airbnb?

Oh how I’ve missed The Lonely Island!!

As an old school, slightly obsessive fan of The Lonely Island and a huge fan of SNL, this podcast feels like it was made for me. The way I nearly shrieked out loud when you guys mentioned The Heist and Stork Patrol was slightly embarrassing but I truly love the mentions of the deep cuts. Even the guys just talking amongst each other makes me laugh so hard, and of course it’s great to hear the inspirations and behind the scenes stories from each short. Never stop never stopping!!
