Great content
Love seeing longer episodes! Longer episodes are key for many podcast listeners. Daily short episodes becomes taxing for folks listening while driving. I listen much more now that you've extended your episode length.
The day has come
Welcome back ! My man.
Thought-provoking pod for swing traders.
Michael Martin provides insightful advice for those interested in pursuing the mindset required for profiting from many small losers and few big winners. His advice is based in reality, as he is a real allocator, and has considerable specific knowledge regarding trading (and human) emotions.
Michael focuses primarily on the human aspects of managing risk, and I appreciate how he calls things how they are, instead of dancing around tough topics. His old-school analogous wisdom summons questions that one must introspect to answer. These podcasts have helped me become more mindful of my own actions, habits, and desires. This all may sound very theoretical, but as I mentioned, Michael’s professional experience in the industry keeps his observations firmly grounded in reality.
If you employ a swing strategy, are looking to become a swing trader, or have an even longer term trading strategy, this is a great podcast to listen to. However, if you are expecting technical advice or strategies, this is not the podcast. The lack of specific technical edge is by design, as Michael iterates that it’s not the strategy that makes the trader, but the emotional discipline and intelligence.
This is also not a great podcast for beginners trading very short-term timeframes, as Michael believes that these timeframes are considerably less predictable and not necessary to making money, so therefore he suggests his beginner audience avoid them, which I somewhat agree with. I think that there will always be a place for using lower timeframes, but only after a sufficient top-down approach has been completed, and most beginners will not have the patience to do this or the skills to do it properly.
Overall, Michael has had a positive impact on my life through this podcast, and that’s why I have written this review: To support him and the show. Thanks Michael for keeping it real and helping out the little guys.
