Olympic Snowboarding Gold Medalist Ross Rebagliati

Olympic Snowboarding Gold Medalist Ross Rebagliati

This week we feature Ross Rebagliati, the FIRST Gold Medalist in Olympic Snowboarding history. Not only was he the first to win gold in the emerging new sport back in 1998 in Nagano, Japan, he was also the first to lose his medal, then get it back again. For past 22 years, Rebagliati tried to distance himself from the bizarre sequence of events—and the 17.8 nanograms of marijuana that triggered a series of serious and complicated events. We discuss the aftermath and how it nearly ended him. Twenty two years later, he realizes he will always be known as "the pot-smoking snowboarder dude who nearly lost Olympic Gold," but he's come to terms with it. It's an odd legacy, but at least he isn't afraid of it anymore.

The Music Industry With Julian & Annalisa Pavone

The Music Industry With Julian & Annalisa Pavone

This week on The Roe Show, I sit down with two very talented young musicians, Julian & Annalisa Pavone.  Julian is “The World’s Youngest Drummer!”® an honour awarded to him by Guinness World Records when he was 4 years, 10 months and 15 days old. Annalisa, Julian’s younger sister is a singer who has supported her older brother since she could talk and is a sought after vocalist.  We discuss what it was like to perform at such a young age, how we first met at a trampoline park in Michigan, what it was like to meet Oprah (his personal favourite interview) when he performed on her 'Amazing Kids' episode at the age of just 3!  We also discuss their thoughts on the current music industry and the future.   We are even treated to a song snippet by Annalisa when she sings “You Are The Reason,” by Calum Scott, for us!  The dynamic duo have both performed on various television shows, together and independently, including 'The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,’ ‘The Oprah Winfrey Show’ and 'Good Morning America.'  Now, at 16, Julian plays a 22-piece custom drum set with 17 cymbals and a double kick. Julian is considered a musical prodigy by many. Joe Billingslea, who founded THE CONTOURS, likens Julian to a "modern Stevie Wonder" and thinks the kid has “serious soul”.  Julian is also “The World’s Youngest Inventor!”® as he invented and received a patent for Abracadabra® Stain Cover-up at age 4. At age 7, he received a patent for his invention, Julian’s Drum Gloves®. He is also "The World's Youngest Entrepreneur!”® producing his own healthy snack, Julian’s GO Bars®.  Julian has also appeared on more than 300 television and news shows, including  “The Oprah Winfrey Show” (twice), “Good Morning America”, “The Maury Show”, “Martha Stewart”, “Inside Edition” (three times), “FOX News Dayside”, “Good Company”, MSNBC, WGN, Japan’s #1 television show, “Amazing Stories” (twice) and on “Seriously Funny Kids” hosted by Heidi Klum. He has starred in a television show pilot, “Finding Julian’s Band”®, created by Rocky Seprino and had a documentary about him produced by Korea’s Seoul Broadcasting Systems. In addition, multi-award winning production company, WonderWorld Entertainment, signed him to star in and co-host the show, "All You Need Is Music", with Michael J. Powell (4-time Grammy Award winning producer). I hope to have them back on again and have Julian show me how to play the drums; his passion for the industry is undeniable, as is his talent. They were a pleasure to have on the Show and for any kids who are looking at a career in music, this is the podcast for you.  For more information on Julian or to follow him:Website - www.LittleDrummerBaby.comInstagram - https://www.instagram.com/julian_pavone/TikTok - “ https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMJftcK4t/YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCnlTBuC7j_sCJrYSdZjkURQGuinness World Records - https://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/world-records/youngest-drummerFor more information on Annalisa or to follow her:Instagram - https://instagram.com/annalisapavv?igshid=rtkyumoxjn15  #TheRoeShow #GRT

Freestyle Dressage With Equestrian Cindy Ishoy

Freestyle Dressage With Equestrian Cindy Ishoy

This week on The Roe Show I interview Freestyle Equestrian Athlete, Coach & Olympian, Cindy Ishoy. We discuss her philosophy on coaching, training young horses for competition, how to reach excellence and how she changed the freestyle dressage mentality with her revolutionary routine in a very traditional sport, when she included the pop song, Candy Shop, by 50 Cent in her freestyle. We discuss more traditional sports like gymnastics and equestrian, which both came from a military background, and what the future might hold for them both. We also discuss the relationship between a horse and rider and how they have to work together as a team.Cindy began her riding career in Germany as a young child, but it didn't take her long to excel at the sport. As a teenager, she started turning in outstanding results for Canada. She was a member of the gold medal team and placed fourth individually at the 1971 Pan Am Games in Cali, Colombia. A year later she was the youngest equestrian competitor at the Munich Olympics, at age 20. In 1979, she became the first Canadian to win an international dressage Grand Prix event in England. In 1980 Cindy was selected to the Canadian team for the Moscow Olympics but because the Games were boycotted, she completed in alternate Games in the Netherlands. She was seventh in the 1986 World Championships and second at the 1988 World Cup in the Netherlands. A member of the bronze medal winning Canadian dressage TEAM at the 1988 Seoul Olympics, she was also fourth individually. Cindy also competed in the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. Her outstanding career included one more Olympic selection, in Athens, in 2004.As if her career wasn’t brilliant enough, she might have achieved even more, because in 1989, her great Hanoverian partner ‘Dynasty’ died from colic at the age of 12, still in the peak of his career. But she would have two other very good horses. ‘Dakar’ went to Barcelona in 1992 and ‘Proton’ at Athens in 2004.For more information on Cindy Ishoy's Training: https://dressagetoday.com/theory/systematic-dressage-training-with-cindy-ishoy-30539 Subscribe On iTunes: https://podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/the-roe-show-freestyle-action-sports-podcast/id1517644052 Contact us for more information about our Freestyle Events: https://www.freestyletrampolineassociation.com/ See our Online Educational Programs for all Acrobatic Training: https://www.freestyletrampolineassociation.com/online-training  #TheRoeShow #GRTcertified #GRTnetwork #GRT
