This week's podcast is the second half of my conversation with Dr. Karen MacNeill. Dr. MacNeill is a performance psychologist, a speaker on the topics of high performance, resilience, mental health and mental fitness, and also a registered psychologist who is a strong advocate for protecting and promoting mental health in sport and in the workplace. She's also a former national team member in the sport of field hockey.

Today's podcast is an important one because of the relationship between sport and mental health. Thanks for listening.

Author's note: when I listened to this episode after the fact, I realized I had said "Shannon Hooper" when, of course, the great Canadian trail blazer in soccer was Charmaine Hooper. In acknowledging my error, I want to point out that it was a slip of the tongue and not a lack of familiarity of the names mentioned by Abby Wambach in her very kind and heartfelt acknowledgement of the success of the Canadian women's team at the Tokyo Olympics, and to those who went before.

    2. Dr. Cari Din: The Magic of Super-Effective Coaching Part 2

    2. Dr. Cari Din: The Magic of Super-Effective Coaching Part 2

Dr. Din completed her dissertation by interviewing a number of Olympic champion athletes and coaches and searching for the commonalities. This served as a jumping off point for our discussion. We covered a variety of topics including self-awareness and growth vs. fixed mindset, as well as the instances when coaches need to push back against the "mythology" of a given sport. This episode is part two of two.
