Edward Charles Ingram Richards, aged 25, was tall and debonair. Always genial and ready with a smile. He'd would willingly lend a hand to a pal that was down and was regarded with the highest esteem by all his colleagues at the brewery he worked at. A married man with one child, a daughter aged 2 years, he came home late from work one evening and was mortally wounded by burglar.
That was the start of an amzing story that captured the imagination of the country with one man's desperate attempts to get home!
