The White Light Mixes
The White Light Mixes

The White Light mixes are, ultimately, about two things: music and space. Music first and foremost, as this series is a showcase of great songs, not tracks – songs and mixes you want to listen over and over again, songs that have depth and staying power, and most importantly songs that mean something to each other. Secondly, White Light is about space – giving the music room to breathe – not a post-a.d.d. mix of everything trendy that can fit onto a mixtape, but one that’s paced to give each tune its shine, where the music is the focus and the mixing is an effortless complement. Over time I’m sure the criteria will change here and there, but White Light will always be about night driving, introspection and taking the time to listen from start to finish – remember to always look into the light . . . White Light 125 - Bill Brewster

White Light 125 - Bill Brewster “Each mix I do has a theme. The theme may, frankly, be tenuous on occasion, but there is always some sort of over-arching, high-falutin', poncey idea behind it. For this mix, I returned to downtempo territory. Over the past 15 years or more, I've become slightly obsessed by the 95-115bpm range and for this I kept it no faster than 110bpm. I must admit, I like the late night electronic feel of that speed. Maybe it's because I'm getting old; or getting awkward (I often get people coming up when I'm DJing and asking me if I'm going to speed things up, as though they're on a bus and late for an appointment). Most of the stuff on here came out this year, with a few oldies thrown in the mix and a couple that have yet to come out. No rhyme or reason for why they're there, other than I like them and it all seemed to fit together. So, anyway, yeah, it's slow. Get over it and enjoy :)" ― Bill Brewster, UK Tracklisting: Jeb Loy Nicholls – Don’t Drop Me (Hotel Motel Vocal) Fernando – Shining Jascha Hagen – Once I Had Love Gianni Gasparo – Golden Age Johnson – Wide Sun Dan Lissvik – Airwalk Barnaby Bruce – Non Friction Royksopp – Happy Up Here (Datassette Remix) Mode – Pillars Of The Temple Oliver Rudge – Magic Carpet Ride Jenny Summers – Treat Me Right More Info on Bill Brewster: http://www.djhistory.com/ https://www.facebook.com/billbrewsterdj http://soundcloud.com/billbrewster Please visit www.whitelightmixes.com, where you can download all the mixes and read about the contributing artists.
