A Conversation on Christian Nationalism
As DePauw’s historic Mendenhall lecture comes from within the Christian tradition, we believe this is a crucial time for faith communities to reflect critically about how theology shapes the way we actually live in the world. This one-night symposium will explore the phenomenon of Christian nationalism, particularly in American history and culture. Some of the questions we will consider include: How is Christian nationalism defined and invoked in our public discourse? What is the role of Christian nationalism in public life and polity right now (deep into an election year)? Is Christian nationalism primarily a theological identity, or a political one? How does Christian nationalism challenge the ideal of pluralistic democracy? How are people drawn to Christian nationalism, and how do those who are not talk across the divide? How do questions of race and ethnicity factor into the conversation?

Customer Reviews
Great podcast
This podcast fills a very important space for many people trying to find a balance between the faith they were raised in and where they are on a deconstruction/restoration journey.
I could do without the podcast intros though (they are a bit too ambient and whispery to the point I find myself skipping those to the actual podcast conversations regularly).
The Most Brilliant
I can’t believe I haven’t written a review before now because I have been listening to Jonathan Martin for about 2.5 years now! I stumbled upon his podcasts (first- Son of a Preacher Man and now The Zeitcast) randomly, with no connection, and they have genuinely changed my life. I remember saying to people, “I’ve been listening to this podcast of this preacher guy and I swear his sermons were MADE for me”. Jonathan offers insight into deconstruction but doesn’t just leave it there- he leads his listeners into a newfound, whole, and robust faith that is more connected to the heart of Jesus and people. I can’t say enough about this podcast- I am deeply and eternally grateful. I always feel like I am living more authentically connected to the heart of God and how it is discovered in the world because of these messages! Thank you!!
Refreshing
A really insightful and refreshing reflection on, what can feel like an overwhelming cultural moment. Moved at a good pace without feeling rushed, and landed the plane with a genuine return to focusing on the nature of The Father’s kindness as revealed in Jesus. Great start to this pod.
