17 | How about no one steals it, Jacob?

In this two-part series on Palestine, Meis and Sabreen are joined first by Susan (from the Haram Police episode, you’re welcome) to continue the conversation that's shifted the narrative. Join us as we learn what it’s like for a TCK Palestinian growing up in the diaspora. From being considered an act of resistance by virtue of existing, to constantly searching for solidarity and community in any stranger wearing the kuffiyeh. We asked non-Palestinians in the listener community “When did you first start paying attention and realising the gravity of the situation?”, and answer the question ourselves along with advice for finding longevity in your activism without burning out. 15.5 | How do you set friendship boundaries?

In this second episode of a three-part friendship series, Meis and Sabreen are joined by the best-selling author (and, more notably, Sabreen’s best friend) Alya Mooro to unpack female friendships. Join as they reminisce over their first “best friend” (wow possessive), cringe over how they used to pride themselves over not being “like other girls” and whether they’ve now found the coveted “SATC female friendship group”. Find out how they went from using gossip as currency to now setting healthier boundaries.

    15 | What’s your friendship deal breaker?

    15 | What’s your friendship deal breaker?

In this first episode of a three-part friendship series, Meis, Mike, and Sabreen consider what *doesn’t* make a “good friend”. Join as they discuss how they’ve been maintaining their friendships during lockdown and how they treat their friends vs. how they want to be treated. Find out what the listeners thought were some solid friendship dealbreakers, and if the hosts would cut or keep their friends with the same behaviour. From stinginess over a cup of coffee to hitting on your partner, your submissions were WILD. Recommendations: The Night Stalker and Lupin on Netflix, and basically any weighted blanket to keep Sabreen warm and tucked in. Sincere apologies for the occasional echo cave audio from Mike, remote recording is tuff.

14 | Can we defund the haram police?

In the longest episode to date, Meis and Sabreen are joined by scientist and baker Susan to address the informal and unwanted Haram Police. Join as they throw shade at no-one’s favourite officers of the judgmental law. From the top-ranking trolls telling you what pagan holidays you can’t participate in to the pick-me women who aid them in their tireless pursuits. Sabreen recalls memories of a particularly bad egg, and Meis teaches you how to boil the perfect egg. Sincere apologies for the unwarranted karaoke. 13 | Are you for the side hustle streets?

In this episode, hosts Meis, Mike, and Sabreen explore the expectation of entrepreneurship and side hustles as a new norm. Join as they weigh out the freedom of being self-employed against the safety of working for someone else. Find out whether they think this really is the age to chase your bag through monetising your every move or if it’s a selectively sold dream. Great opener! Great topics

The hosts did a wonderful job of opening up this new series. Their conversation was light and entertaining, but there was some real relatable substance to it that keeps me waiting to hear what they’ll discuss next! All the topics brought up were very relevant too..I’m excited to hear what else they’ll be discussing!
