Only Lovers Left Alive
This week for our PATREON APPRECIATION MONTH we have our Horrible Saviour Jeremy (Tier 3 Patron) to shoutout for our topic! Jeremy has been supporting us from day one and has always given us unique subject matter to review. Thanks Jeremy!!! He also runs his own successful YouTube channel and instagram page! @sipperssocialclub
In ONLY LOVERS LEFT ALIVE (2013) two vampire lovers who are centuries old and living worlds apart face existential obstacles coexisting with non-vampire beings. They balance their lack of connection when they reunite to respark their mutual happiness once more after Adam (Tom Hiddleston) can't hide his morose demeanor and Eve (Tilda Swinton) takes it upon herself to travel by night and save her lover from drowning in despair.
Unlike many films of its genre, there are no coven battles, werewolves, or a particular hierarchy of any kind. There is only blood, existence, love and art.
How many stabs will our hearts take this week? Find out in Episode 67!
This November marks the beginning of our Patreon Appreciation Month! All month long our Tier 3 Patrons (The Horrible Saviours) get to choose an episode each week and we are kicking off this month with our Horrible Saviour Matthew's pick, THE ETERNAL (1998)
Reckless and nonchalant couple Nora (Alison Elliott) and Jim (Jared Harris) spend their time seeking out the next thrill at the bottom of every bottle. Whether it be narcotics or alcohol, any bottle within reach is sure to brighten their day, even with the custody of their 8-year-old son Jimmy (Jim Jr.) (Jeffrey Goldschrafe) they make no hesitation. With travel plans to return to Ireland and reunite with Nora's family, it becomes increasingly apparent that Nora is suffering from an unknown ailment causing frequent migraines and visions. When her Uncle Bill (Christopher Walken) introduces her to a 2000-year-old bog witch he has stored in their basement, she is sure he has lost his mind. Her migraines and visions increase and slowly their true purpose reveals itself.
