Brent Lane and Brett Jones | Powerful Automotive Marketplace Functionality in an Approachable Purchaser Platform at HeyAuto
How do you solve the chicken before the egg challenge in designing a technology solution that is familiar and approachable for purchasers, but incorporates powerful functionality and options to promote competitiveness of vehicle dealers?
Hey Auto employed business logic to solve the use case of the customer first, with technology to back it up.
The energy and enthusiasm of Brett Lane and Brent Jones, when speaking about their automotive marketplace, is fully justified by the noteworthy accomplishment and value that is this product; and there is more to come.
They commend the incredible ability their team has, what they have accomplished thus far, and yet are excited to release amazing capabilities, tools and features being added in the short term.
This team truly believes that the technology space holds significant potential for both entrepreneurs and those interested in following a career in software development. The secret is to guard against fear triggered by the perceived complexity of the options as they evolve, and to surround yourself with an amazing team of talented believers who take advantage of the resources being made available.
Nickel Mining and Environmental commodities; Coexisting within the Green Trend
“Now is the time when ideas that make a difference around the environment and sustainability have monetary value … combined with their social value.”
At graduate school Anthony Milewski completed Russian studies and wished to work in Russia. This led to an opportunity to work in London and then transfer to Moscow, where he honed his skill in investing in mining and traded commodities of all types – from sustainable commodities to mined and grown commodities.
He currently combines leading one of the largest suppliers of mixed hydroxide precipitate (MHP), a nickel and cobalt precipitate used by the growing battery industry, with a passion for improving the carbon impact of human progress. Environmental good in a capitalist model.
Tommy Zizian | Demonstrating Fun is Timeless, Profitable and Social Enterprise is the Future at Sock Rocket
Tommy Zizian has taken his side project to become his main focus, with a large benefit for many. Through some hard work, entrepreneurial experimentation, perseverance, crazy slip of the tongue marketing, and growth in social-good culture, Sock Rocket has to date operated profitably and donated over 130,000 pairs of socks to those in need across North America.
Every day is split between Sock Rocket and active strategy and involvement in Tommy’s Whitehorse, Yukon restaurant partnership Smoke and Sow … without leaving Calgary, Alberta. He even fits in his web development agency, Syntax Era. Embracing his own lack of expertise, not trying to pretend he knows everything, or sometimes anything, Tommy works on his goals. Every experience, failure or success, and the willingness to make daily decisions and keep trying is his valuable secret.
Tommy suggests that, although entrepreneurship can be a struggle, it is also a ton of fun, very rewarding and no-where near as difficult as many tell you. Every year it does get easier, as long as there is a niche group of people globally willing to buy what you sell. He asks everyone to investigate the social enterprises in their area, look at the business models that make it possible to run both profitably and socially responsible, and then if it resonates, consider creating your own social enterprise where there is an underserved need. Create your own fun and success too!
Jessica Lunshof, Madison McBay and Rukia Mire | TAMVOES Expedited by a Pandemic and Validated by Appreciative Adoption
Securely and privately connecting people, their families and their health care providers while maintaining detailed health information is the power of the TAMVOES health information system.
Jessica Lunshof identified an urgent need for an individual focused system that could efficiently save and share medical history, records, notes, even instructions, in a confidential way between patients, their family and caregivers. Bridging silos, removing repetition, comprehensively recording and sharing – the power is in the one asset.
Inspired by the lifelong journey of two important seniors she co-founded TAMVOES with Madison McBay whose health informatics education and enthusiasm, together with the assistance of many co-op students, have combined to rapidly develop, validate, and enhance a powerful system. The system has already been enhanced, in co-operation with Blackchain Guru, to employ artificial intelligence to efficiently deliver targeted medical research articles and the app planned for the fall will integrate proactive user information and recommendations.
Launching in the USA and Canada during the pandemic facilitated an opportunity to prove the power of the technology for communication in unknown circumstances and to help a patient who may have to go unaccompanied to a medical facility, potentially unable to speak for themselves. Seizing the opportunity to launch early created excitement to obtain adoption, driving growth and users of the TAMVOES platform seeing the value therein.
Paul Harrietha and Holly Catalfamo | A simple way to increase business profitability by 15% and more. “The Invisible Rules - What’s really holding women back in business and how to fix it”
Women need coaching and men need education.
Coming from careers in large companies, consulting and academia Paul Harrietha and Holly Catalfamo, cooperated to research and expose the ongoing reasons why women remain so badly under-represented at senior leadership levels, and to suggest the solution. Their book originated in Paul’s academic thesis, as reinforced by their personal experiences and observations. Paul and Holly describe it as a passion project - one that researches, highlights, explains and strives to solve the problem:
● That has plagued society and business for an extended period,
● That limits economic success of companies, and yet
● Is an area where significant effort, policy and rhetoric have already been focused; without significant improvement.
Holly and Paul’s passion allowed them to really probe the area that, on the surface, appears to be a gender issue but is at its core a significant business issue that blunts returns, both frustrates and discourages people, and holds female leaders back from senior positions in corporations.
David Garofalo | Developing Premium Gold Returns and Advancing Developments in the Gold Industry at Gold Royalty Corp
David Garofalo is leading Gold Royalty Corp, striving to capitalize on the upcoming boom in gold exploration as the gold price increases to a new peak. A deficit arose in gold exploration and development as the industry focused on harvesting existing assets rather than continually replacing with new deposits. Innovation, a need to improve the water and carbon footprint, and economic factors combine as challenges and opportunity to unlock significant growth in investment and returns through the expected increases in gold demand and price.
Significant volumes of capital are expected to flow into the industry as juniors begin their exploration quest, and the royalty corps, who have significantly lower risk and hence can raise capital most cost effectively, can provide that capital. Less exposure, upside on the increase in the gold price, exploration upside on assets, could produce double digit returns. But can the industry innovate fast enough to improve their environmental impact?
