Amazing!

The Views podcast, hosted by well-known Youtubers David Dobrik and Jason Nash, is an amusing podcast currently ranking 10th on the comedy charts on iTunes. Dobrik and Nash have a dynamic and disputatious relationship which makes for some hilariously interesting conversations and easy listening.
Dobrik is a 23-year-old millionaire with an insanely popular Youtube vlog series. Nash is a 46-year-old single father of two with his own smaller vlog channel. They both rose to fame in 2013 on the popular and short-lived, six-second video app, Vine. After the death of Vine, they grew an even larger online presence and have now branched out to movies and televisions.
Views is a weekly 40-minute podcast that has been airing every Thursday since May 2017. This podcast is about nothing and everything at the same time. It lays open the two vloggers eclectic relationship and digs deep into their private thoughts and life experiences. They touch on a variety of subjects, from pop culture to politics, while always keeping it funny and entertaining. Sometimes featuring advice episodes, sometimes having celebrities, friends and colleagues as guests, there is a lack of real structure to this podcast. Nevertheless, I find it very interesting to see the world from two very different viewpoints and from people at two very different stages of life.
In episode 123, “Making a Million Dollars in One Night”, Dobrik and Nash sit down with popular celebrity DJ Dillion Francis and later on with former 90’s boy band member, Nick Lachey. They throw hilarious jabs at Francis and try to map out a plan to make a million dollars in a single night. They later bring out Lachey and Nash grills him on what it’s like to work with Dobrik on the upcoming TV series America’s Most Musical Family.
Episode 122, “Sex With Two Girls”, takes a wild turn as they speak to their personal friend and Youtube celebrity, Corinna Kopf, about her developing feelings towards women. They later share stories of childhood bullies. Towards the end of the show they bring out their friend Reggie to talk about adult circumcision.
The advertising in this podcast also lacked structure. In episode 122, “Sex With Two Girls”, there were not any advertisements in the entire episode. In episode 123, “Making a Million Dollars in One Night”, there was one ad in between guests. The ad was for ZipRecruiter, an online service to help employers find quality applicants. I found the ad read very boring, lasting just over a minute and clearly read directly from the script that was sent to them by ZipRecruiter. In any other instance, I would have skipped the ad. With their audience being made up mostly of a younger generation, I felt as though it was not a great fit for their podcast.
I give Views an overall rating of 4.5 out of 5 stars. The lack of structure did not bother me in the slightest and I had a great time listening to this podcast. The 40 minutes flew by for each episode I listened to. They had a fun back and forth and I caught myself laughing out loud on multiple occasions. Amongst all the silliness and comedy, there were also great pieces of advice on how to deal with tough, embarrassing and awkward situations and stages of life. I had to deduct a half a point for the long and irrelevant advertisement they provided. Overall, Dobrik and Nash left me feeling satisfied and have successfully gained another loyal listener.

VIEWS is everything I expected; crazy, awkward, and wild, with less sensationalism. I love the down to earth feel that the podcast gives off, especially since Dobrik’s vlog is the complete opposite in nature: utter and complete chaos. Both the Vlogs and the Podcast are explicit, both in content and in language, but I appreciate the fact that the podcast uses it less for shock factor and more as just a way to show a realistic side of these two Youtubers. I love Dobrik and Nash, and I will continue to listen to their podcast for some weekly laughs.
