WhateverWorks S3E2: Narrative Therapy WhateverWorks

    • Mental Health

There are certain stories that we tell ourselves about events in our life that seem to pop up in our minds at the most inconvenient times. Maybe it's that embarrassing time in gym class, a 'sorry' that was meant to be said but never said, or a breakup that went awry. These little novelas of torture can keep us up at night or worse, can stop us from living the life we were meant to live.

Helen was trapped in a story about what it means to be successful as a career woman. She and her therapist traced the origins of this story to the tragic loss of her mother at a young age and only then were they able to reauthor a different telling of what success really means.

This episode is edited by David Conroy and Jason Ball. The original theme music in this podcast, Universal Donor, from the album, Hopeful Monster, is written and produced by Jason Ball.

This season of WhateverWorks is sponsored by JaneApp. Visit https://jane.app/ for more information on how you can bring your mental health practice online.
