Written and narrated by Pulitzer Prize-winning author Tim Weiner, Whirlwind: America, Russia & Ukraine examines the ongoing war in Ukraine, the worst war in Europe since WWII, in interviews with decorated, high-ranking CIA veterans who have led the American intelligence war with Russia for decades. These experts explain how Putin laid the groundwork for attacking Ukraine using deception and disinformation, how Russian disinformation has been amplified by American media figures and politicians, and how American political warfare can undermine Putin and the Kremlin.
Whirlwind is an Audacy original presented in partnership with Tim Weiner and Jigsaw Productions.

Amazing!
I’m Canadian and like most of us frustrated by what is happening in your country. I remember saying 4 years ago. If Trump gets in we might as well say Hitler wasn’t a bad guy. Your podcast has educated me and I finally understand. I can’t help but think if this could be heard by all Americans things would change. Not everyone but some and that’s a start to getting back your dignity. Also humble yourselves stop running saying your the best. You will get noticed too in being quiet and humble. Americans can make a come back I’d love to see that. Thank you again! I’ve shared your podcast on fb and I don’t usually do that. I hope that people will listen and learn.
Exposing Soviet misdeeds, and ignoring the CIA’s
I thought this show was excellent, until I got to the end of episode 4, “The Italian Job”. Wiener touts all the wonderful doings of the CIA interfering with the Italian election of 1948 (with the aid of that bastion of freedom, the mafia) as if this was some kind of noble democratic endeavour. He then reports, with little more than a passing note, on how the CIA engineered coups in Chile and Guatemala after election interference failed in those countries. Nothing about the years of imprisonment, torture and misery the U.S. installed in those countries as a result of the CIA’s involvement. Then, in the next episode we learn of the lies of soviet interference in the Sandinista revolution promulgated by Oliver North and the Reagan administration, and nothing of the atrocities committed by the Nicaraguan Contras made possible with US help (and financed through illegal sales of arms to Iran). The credibility of this show has sunk to a whole new low.
