Dan Dauphin Talks About Bits and Horses
Dan Dauphin knows the mechanics and physics of bits. Honestly, I put a snaffle in my horse's mouth and don't think much more about it. What goes on in there is a giant mystery to me. Oh, I know that when I pull on the right rein; the horse goes right. But, I can't really see what's going on down there and can only imagine what's happening in that giant cavern in his head. Dan Dauphin studied the build and mechanics of not only the horses' mouth, but the bits and how the two interact.

Customer ReviewsSee All
If you could please do an episode on things to know for a first time horse owner? I have been around horses as far as I can remember and I think I may be financially ready to own one of my own but I’m completely clueless when it comes to the necessities! Thanks- Nikola
This is so American
I’ve only listened to one episode—the one about trails, which is what interests me. I like the topics and the ideas, so I thought this might be interesting. But...holy American! Homeless encampments? People throwing stuff at you? Aggressive, attacking dogs?Gunshots (other than hunting—totally different situation)?? These are things I have never thought about and something I can’t imagine myself having to consider. I don’t know where these people are riding, but I can tell you where they AREN’T riding! Unfortunately this super is not relevant to me. Though the commercial was, lol!! I have a Total Saddle Fit cinch/girth. Sadly unsubscribing. And I feel sad for my American sisters and brothers who just want to peacefully go for a trail ride.
Informative and Inspirational
I love this podcast. I listen to it every morning when I walk my dogs. The stories and the training tips from some of the worlds best horsemen are fantastic. Thanks for sharing good horsemanship with the world!
