Shi**y Dog Parents w/ Miranda of The Dog Park Bitch Podcast (Part 2)

Shi**y Dog Parents w/ Miranda of The Dog Park Bitch Podcast (Part 2)

This is Part 2 of one very long interview with Miranda from The Dog Park Bitch Podcast.  Part 1 can be found over on The Dog Park Bitch Podcast.  Highly recommend listening to part 1 first where Miranda interviews me and we  SPILL THE TEA about how we've both had our content stolen by other creators.

Part 2 starts off with us rounding out our opinion on having our work copied and our takeaways from the experience. Then we move into me interviewing Miranda about her podcast and travelling around in a camper with her 3 dogs.
And finally we finish the episode off with some humor- Miranda’s podcast name is the dog park bitch and the old name was shitty dog moms so we kept those themes and talked about how sometimes you have to be a bitch at the dog park and then WE RANT about shitty dog parents.
How you enjoy and remember Life's better WITH A DOG :)

Finally bringing you an episode about Therapy Dogs. Cohost Carly sits down with Kristin and her coonhound mix, Winston. The two of them are a therapy dog team certified through the organization Alliance of Therapy Dogs.  Additionally, Kristin is a pediatric occupational therapist (OT) working on a doctoral degree in Occupational Science with a research interest on the impact of therapy dogs on children on the autism spectrum.  We discuss-
    - How is a therapy dog different from a service dog?
    - What kind of temperament and training is needed for a therapy dog?
    - How to get yourself and your dog certified for therapy.
    - The rewarding benefits of doing therapy work with your dog.

Also Summer 21' book blog is finally up! Read Here

    FYI: Fireworks With a Dog

    FYI: Fireworks With a Dog

A for your information bonus episode about how to handle firework season with a dog.
General safety advice if your dog is not afraid of fireworks:
Don’t let your dog near the fireworks at all If you're at a party your dog is your responsibility.Don't make a big deal out of them (ie don't let them think fireworks are toys)Keep your dog securely on leash and make sure all exits are covered while fireworks are going off.Have identification on them and  microchip updatedShort Term Solutions:
Walk them during daylight hours to avoid times when fireworks are likely to be set offTire them out but not too tiredClose windows and curtains to muffle the sound of fireworksPut on some music or tv to mask the firework sounds (DogTV)Create a quiet space where your dog can feel in control a ‘den’. Dont make a big deal out of themYou can try a ThundershirtAntianxiety meds you will probably  need bloodwork in advance- speak with your vet.CBD is an option but  you need to know the dosageCalming supplements are a potential option, use as instructed.Long Term Solutions
Desensitization is a technique of exposing your dog to a stimulus that would normally cause an undesirable reaction at an extremely low level so that there is no response. As the pet becomes less reactive, it is desensitized through exposure to gradually more intense levels of the stimulus. It takes a lot of time because you're doing a  little bit of training  each day
