84: Not Caring About Speed, Hard Conversations, Short-Term Gains vs. Long-Term Impact, Finding Time for Big Projects

Finding that sweet spot between work play and love means checking your relationships with each one! And that’s just what folks are curious about in this episode. When it comes to sport, how do you balance performance (and is it OK not to?!) gains now while considering how it may affect your body and relationship with the sport in the long term? When it comes to relationships, how do you handle conflict or talking about the hard stuff when your approach is different from your partner’s? And when it comes to work, how can you fit in those big creative projects—like writing a book—when you already have a pretty full plate? Lauren and Jesse answer these questions, plus they discuss hydration, bidets, and Strava-crown glory.

This show always makes me laugh!

This podcast is great, I am always happy when I see a new episode in my podcast player. I usually listen to this while doing a workout but I have learned not to do that when I have to do something intense, like intervals. I am so often laughing out loud, probably mostly at Jesse's comments, that it is not great during an intense workout. And What's going on is my favorite section, you should never rush through that. People tune in because they love to hear what is going on. And for what it's worth, the episodes are never too long! I mean, you know how long workouts are during ironman training, so the longer you keep me entertained on my run or trainer workout, the better.

Real, honest discussions

Thank you for honest discussions into so many issues. From your successes and disappointments in life and sport, to painting a realistic picture of parenthood combined with personal growth, there is always a nugget of information to take away and apply to life. Thanks. I look forward to more.

A continuous thought process of ‘yes!’

Love the dynamic, answering of questions from different views, and general broad spectrum of information that comes out. Multiple times every episode I find myself agreeing with a thought being discussed. Here’s to one more review closer to 1000!
