Worst fantasy punishments, Andy's zero-QB tale of woe & Zeke vs. Saquon

Liz Loza & Andy Behrens chop it up on this week's fantasy football podcast across a variety of fun league stories.

Tom Brady called someone a, "m-f'er," in the latest promo for HBO's The Shop. We talk about it and why we think that person's name rhymes with Kimmy Sharoppolo.

The story of a fantasy league loser who spent 15 hours in a Mississippi Waffle House as punishment inspired us to talk about the worst fantasy punishments you could enact on your fellow league mates.

Andy talks about how circumstance forced him into a strategy of drafting Ryan Fitzpatrick and Sam Darnold in a recent draft, and we discuss the 2021 prospects for the two new NFC passers.

Liz talks about her Rest vs. Rust series and what a doctor had to say about Dak Prescott & Saquon Barkley's injuries heading into the next season.

Finally, Liz & Andy play a little game of Believe or Make Believe regarding a few positive stories coming out of league minicamps, including Jameis Winston's hype video, a Sammy Watkins glow-up year, David Montgomery hitting new highs and more.

Confirmed QB1 Andy Dalton, Raiders WRs and players we wish got a chance of scenery

Confirmed QB1 Andy Dalton, Raiders WRs and players we wish got a chance of scenery

It's the NFC North QB battle that keeps on giving. Liz Loza is joined by Yahoo Sports' very own Mo Castillo to react to news that Chicago Bears coach Matt Nagy will be riding with Andy Dalton as the QB1 heading into the upcoming season. With rookie Justin Fields reportedly getting no clear path to the starting job in September, Liz & Mo have some thoughts about the Bears' leadership heading into 2021. (5:40)

Later in the podcast, Liz & Mo talk about recent comments made by coach Jon Gruden about Las Vegas Raiders sophomore WR Henry Ruggs. Will he see more volume next season after an underwhelming rookie campaign? Will he face a challenge for targets from fellow second-year pass catcher Bryan Edwards or the newly signed John Brown? (17:45)

Summer is just a few short days away, so in the second half of the show, Liz & Mo chat about the players they wish took a vacation in 2021...to different teams. Would Melvin Gordon be better off outside of Denver? Should JuJu have traded in the black & gold for green & gold? Can Liz convince Jimmy Graham (avid podcast listener) to clear out a path for a Cole Kmet breakout season? Not sure, but we have fun with it. (22:45)

How to use fantasy consistency as a statistic to build a better team

How to use fantasy consistency as a statistic to build a better team

Sick of using precious starting roster slots on players that do nothing for thirteen weeks out of the year but then pop off with two or three monster performances? Yeah, us too.

Andy Behrens is joined this week by Bob Lung, author of the Fantasy Football Consistency Guide to talk about Bob's work measuring consistency and how to build a better roster thanks to those insights.

At the top of the show, they kick around some small news items regarding Jamison Crowder renegotiating his final year with the New York Jets, Laviska Shenault potentially taking on a new role in Jacksonville, Nick Mullens moving onto the Eagles and whether UNC rookie running back Javonte Williams could be the Week 1 starter in Denver.

For the bulk of the show, they talk about Bob's Consistency Guide, which positions are more consistent than others, what consistency to expect out of rookies and which highly consistent players are undervalued heading into the 2021 season. (11:30)

In the final segment, Bob talks about the upcoming Fantasy Football Expo in Canton, Ohio later this summer and his experiences driving around legends like Al Davis in his time working with the Pro Football Hall of Fame. (31:30)

Dynasty startup strategy & why the Bengals are 'Cowboys north'

Dynasty startup strategy & why the Bengals are 'Cowboys north'

As June slowly heats up into July, so does fantasy draft season. Matt Harmon is joined by Anthony Amico, writer for Football Guys & Establish the Run to discuss the best strategies for your dynasty drafts this summer.

Before they can get there, Matt and Anthony chat about a few news items from around the league including a potential shake-up in the Dallas Cowboys WR trio, expectations for Miles Sanders and the Baltimore Ravens hosting Todd Gurley for a visit.

Next, they move to some concepts to consider for your startup dynasty leagues including why you should fade RB and always look to trade future picks. (14:00)

In the final half of the episode, Matt and Anthony take a long look at the Cincinnati Bengals offense heading into 2020. Is rookie WR Ja'Marr Chase already undervalued heading into this season? Can Joe Mixon have a bounce-back season with Giovani Bernard out of the picture in Tampa Bay? (24:20)

Julio Jones to the Titans, cheese theory & fantasy rules of thumb

Julio Jones to the Titans, cheese theory & fantasy rules of thumb

After months of speculation, Atlanta Falcons star wideout Julio Jones was finally traded to the Tennessee Titans over the weekend, joining A.J. Brown, Ryan Tannehill and Derrick Henry with the AFC South contender. Scott Pianowski is joined by Rotowire managing editor Chris Liss, kicking off this Tuesday night podcast with a reaction to the trade and what it means for the both teams involved.

Later in the episode, Scott & Chris explore some of their fantasy rules of thumb and whether any of them truly hold up. Is Scott's rule to avoid WRs who have changed teams broken after the success of Stefon Diggs and DeAndre Hopkins in 2020? Should you draft for value instead of team balance? Scott also shares his cheese theory about players returning from injury. Yes, this is the only fantasy podcast you'll hear that compares Sammy Watkins to a fine roquefort.

Ranking the 25 returning head coaches in the NFL

Ranking the 25 returning head coaches in the NFL

Another week goes by, another week without a Julio Jones, Zach Ertz or Aaron Rodgers trade. But have no fear, AJ Dillon's got a name for each of his musclebound legs.

Matt Harmon welcomes Pat Daugherty of NBC Sports Edge to discuss Dillon's tree-trunk thighs as well as what fantasy managers could expect out of the running back situations in Green Bay and Detroit (where former Packer Jamaal Williams continues to receive offseason hype).

For the bulk of the episode, however, the guys go through Pat's offseason rankings of all 25 returning NFL head coaches. Bill Belichick takes the top spot after a disappointing 7-9 season in New England, but how would the Patriots have fared with a replacement level coach? Can we expect more out of Kliff Kingsbury, Matt Rhule and Joe Judge in the future? Matt & Pat explore coaches at the top and bottom of the ranks before giving their thoughts on 2021's crop of new play-callers. (12:10)

Dog whistle

Something about Liz’s voice make me wince. Irrelevant of subject, she’s tough listen. Lazy takes and narratives don’t help.

An Ode To A Football Commish

You guys have an amazing pod and a great rapport with each other, and it shows.
Matt’s patient wisdom and strong takes are the perfect balance to the over-bold, wild antics of his colleague, Liz Loza.
Great advice. Big laughs. A must listen.

Lackluster - they dont watch all the games

Lot of mistakes and omissions that makes me feel they dont watch games close enough. For example they hype albert O if fant is out for a while. However, albert o was the one with a serious injury in this game. Another example: falcon fans fear broncos recovering onside kick? The falcons punted and broncos still had time to tie. Terrible!
