091: How Do We Grow Meaningful Relationships with Teenagers?

091: How Do We Grow Meaningful Relationships with Teenagers?

The quality and effectiveness of your ministry is directly related to the quality of the relationships you have with the teenagers in your group. That’s because when you have truth and rapport with teenagers the conversations are deeper, the accountability is stronger, and their openness to you is clearer. But how do you build those kinds of relationships? It’s not necessarily a natural process, but there are certain values that can help.

Today’s conversation between Sid Koop and Jason Ballard is a special episode taken from a video series that they recorded together on the 10 Essentials of Volunteering in Youth Ministry. The rest of series covers topics such as:

How do we keep our Youth Ministry safe?
How do we model spiritual disciplines?
How do we partner with parents?
How do we help teenagers in crisis?

To access all 10 videos for use to train your youth ministry team, head to youthministryonlinesummit.com. You’ll also receive access to an extra hour of content from youth ministry experts. Access is either $50 or $100 depending on the size of your volunteer team.

089: How Can You Create a More Welcoming Space for Teenagers with Disabilities? Interview with Kathy Dubbeldam

089: How Can You Create a More Welcoming Space for Teenagers with Disabilities? Interview with Kathy Dubbeldam

Not every teenager in your community is able-bodied, which means that in order for everyone to experience a gospel-centered community there must be ministries that are welcoming for teenagers with disabilities. Perhaps your group has teenagers with physical disabilities that are easy to spot, or maybe you’ve noticed that some teenagers struggle cognitively or socially and you wonder if there’s a disability at play. Whether these teenagers are already part of your ministry or not, we know that there is space for everyone in the family of God, so what role can you play in making every teenager welcome in your ministry?

You can learn more about Kathy and the work of Young Life Capernaum through their Instagram, Facebook, or Website. You can also email them at capernaum@younglife.ca
