    “THE REAL HORROR BEHIND PHANTOM OF THE OPERA” and More True Terrors! #WeirdDarkness #Darkives

    “THE REAL HORROR BEHIND PHANTOM OF THE OPERA” and More True Terrors! #WeirdDarkness #Darkives

    IN THIS EPISODE: We’ll look at a brief history of the classic Lon Chaney film, “The Phantom of the Opera” - and how the film itself has a haunting attached to it! (The Real Horror Behind The Phantom Of The Opera) *** Weirdo family member, Katie Jo, tells us that as a child she saw something similar to glitter – but in a very supernatural form! (Sparkles) *** An old man opens up to something that happened to him over six decades ago that he has never told anyone before – something that he says ruined his life. (Something Happened 63 Years Ago) *** A woman in bed is startled awake in the middle of the night when she feels someone pull her arm out from under her head – but she’s the only one in her apartment. (Someone Or Something Moved My Hand) *** Mirrors, mirrors, mirrors everywhere. The more mirrors Lucida had the more she could admire herself.  She even is said to have made a deal with the devil in order to maintain her youthful beauty. (The Creepy Story of Lucida Mansi) *** Village life in Lemont, Illinois was as peaceful as it could be, and the Willmans farm was one of the collection of typical sleepy homesteads in the region. Until the day the demon came. (The Demon of Lemont) *** Chillingly, statistics suggest that a child is more likely to be killed by a parent than by a stranger and in most cases, the killer takes his own life after the act. We’ll look into the disturbing psychology of family annihilators. (The Psychology of Familicide)

    “WHY I BELIEVE IN THE PARANORMAL” #WeirdDarknessRadio WEEKEND OF JUNE 15-16, 2024

    PLEASE SHARE THIS EPISODE in your social media so others who love strange and macabre stories can listen too! https://weirddarkness.com/listen
    ==========
    HOUR ONE: It could be everyone’s ultimate fear. Not death… but being buried before death. Buried alive. It’s not just a trope of horror cinema and novels, it has truly happened on a few occasions – and we’ll hear stories from a few people who were buried alive, but survived to tell the tale. (I Was Buried Alive) *** But first… Reddit users share their own personal tales of how they became believers in ghosts and the paranormal. We’ll begin with those stories. (How I Came To Believe)
    ==========
    HOUR TWO: A Weirdo family member relays a terrifying story of what is described as “El Nahual” in Mexico – a shapeshifter, that her dad barely escaped from! (El Nahual In The Avocado Grove) *** John George Haigh took the plunge into murder when he knocked out his old boss and dumped the body into acid – then set out to kill again. (Acid Bath Murderer) *** Only two percent of the population can hear it. A persistent, maddening sound that science has no explanation for, and the hearers have dubbed it, “The Hum”. (The Hum) *** The Tromp family fled their farm in 2016. There is still no explanation as to why, and one police officer calls it “the most bizarre case” he has ever seen. (The Tromp Family Fleeing) *** In Chatham County, North Carolina there is a 40-foot wide circle in the wilderness where absolutely nothing grows. Not only can scientists not explain it, but some believe Satan himself is responsible. (The Devil’s Tramping Ground)
    ==========
    SUDDEN DEATH OVERTIME: The circumstances of wrestling coach John du Pont’s bizarre crimes were portrayed in the critically acclaimed true crime drama film, Foxcatcher. Steve Carell was lauded for his performances as John du Pont, and the film was nominated for five Academy Awards. But how true is the film compared to the actual events? (The Real Story Behind The Movie Foxcatcher)

    “The Case of Frank Gouldy’s Deadly Decent” #ShadowsOfDeceit

    “The Case of Frank Gouldy’s Deadly Decent” #ShadowsOfDeceit

    THE TRUE CASE THIS STORY IS BASED ON: On the night of October 26, 1858, West 30th Street, New York City, was rocked by a violent family tragedy. Elizabeth Carr, a servant for the Gouldy family, ran from their home screaming for help, alerting neighbors and police to a gruesome scene inside. They found the Gouldy family members severely injured from head wounds inflicted by Frank Gouldy, who had succumbed to a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Frank Gouldy, the troubled 20-year-old son of wealthy retired lumber merchant Francis Gouldy, had a history of erratic behavior. After being reprimanded by his father for stealing money meant for a business venture, Frank attacked his family with a hatchet. His father, stepmother Jane, and younger brothers Nathaniel and Charlie were all critically injured. Elizabeth Carr and another servant, Joanna Murphy, were also attacked, with Carr bravely fighting off Frank before succumbing to her injuries weeks later. Despite the brutal assault, the Gouldy family, including a pregnant Jane who later gave birth to a healthy baby, survived their injuries. Frank's attack was spurred by longstanding familial tensions and his own troubled disposition, culminating in a night of horror that left a lasting impact on those involved.

    “EMPATH AND PSYCHOPATH SHARE THE SAME BODY” and More Creepy True Stories! #WeirdDarkness #Darkives

    IN THIS EPISODE: Conjoined twins might be identical genetically, but their personalities can be drastically different – with different interests, different opinions, different mental conditions… even different gender preferences when it comes to romance. The odd story of real-life conjoined twins, Masha and Dasha. (Empath And Psychopath Share The Same Body) *** Weirdo family member Alexis Bishop hears a creepy voice in the dark. (Cover Your Feet) *** As parents, you want to empower your children. You want to teach them independence, and a good way to start is letting them walk to school, without a parent or chaperone. But what happens when it all backfires, and your child never makes it to school? (Austin Sigg and the Murder of Jessica Ridgeway) *** One of the common themes in Yowie reports – and many Bigfoot reports – is that they like to throw stones. A lot. (Did A Yowie Throw That Stone)
